  • Upscales DVDs to Full HD 1080p quality so you get a near high definition picture that brings out the finest detail in every scene.
  • Fast and slow playback with sound lets you advance through scenes quickly without missing any of the dialogue - you never know when you might hear a memorable line!
  • The Sony Precision Cinema Progressive system detects image changes at the pixel level, resulting in a picture that is more faithful to the source - whether film or video. This system also processes the moving and still parts of an image to deliver sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are virtually free from artifacts.
  • Multiple-disc resume allows you to power on your player and return to the last scene you were watching on up to six of your most previously watched discs without having to search.
  • Bring your photos to life and enjoy highly detailed, Full HD 1920 x 1080p images with the PhotoTV HD mode. PhotoTV HD works with select Sony cameras and this DVD player and HDMI output to fine tune sharpness, gradation, and colour, displaying images that more closely match the look of printed photos (HDMI cable sold separately).
  • Includes support for enhanced audio formats such as DTS, DTS ES, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Pro Logic IIz, and Dolby Digital EX.
  • View movies and photos and listen to music using this DVD player with multiple format playback.

  • Does the job

Bought this today and found it very simple to set up just plugged it in attached a HDMI cable to it and the TV and watched a Standard DVD on it. The HD upscale works very well on my TV a UHD 4K and the detail was very sharp and detailed. The only negative issues were it seems to take time to load and the batteries that came with it for the remote were dead other than that its a good player for the price. I didn't go for a Blue Ray Player as I have no Blue Ray movies and do not plan on buying any Blue Ray so this one will be good enough

  • Defective right out of the box

Returned this right away as the device could not play any DVD. Tried several and 'Loading' never cleared. The player would not eject the discs either. I guess you get what you pay for, and after reading other similar reviews would not buy a Sony player again.

  • Engineered to fail
    by

I bought two of these, one after another hoping the first one was just a dud that failed shortly after the 30 day "tail light" warranty ended. The second unit exibited the same symptoms as the first one. Symptoms are problems reading DVD's even some new ones (all DVD's that had problems tested fine on another DVD player at home). DVD player takes an extremely long time to load, fine tuned to the point of anxiety setting in waiting for the DVD to start playing. Despite frequent cleanings the operation doesn't improve, used two different makers DVD cleaners. Conclude that the design and or quality is inherently poor and prone to faults/failure/frustration. Do not recommend this product.
