What customers are saying

The headphones offer a comfortable fit and decent sound quality for the price. However, some users have experienced issues with static, short battery life, and compatibility problems. While suitable for basic audio use, the overall quality and reliability may not meet expectations for the brand and price point. There are potentially better alternatives available for those seeking more consistent performance.

    Nice... but

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 13, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They work great, but they are too big for me from the top of myhead to my ears. The top of the earpad sits literally on the top of my ear, and it gets sore. I "fixed" it by attaching sponge to each of the two pillows that are on the top inside of the piece that goes on top of my head. It works but it's not pretty. Now I not only have sponge added, I have electrical tape holding them on. Too bad I had to modify right off the bat. Nice features are the length of time they hold a charge, and they have a nice and clear sound.

    The Interference is Maddening

    Reviewed by - August 14, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As you may have seen in some of my other headphones/headsets/earbuds reviews, I have a small hearing loss in one of my ears. I was looking for a way to listen to the TV without the volume turned up so loud it annoys others. With that goal in mind, I purchased these headphones. When I got home and took everything out of the box, I looked at all the included cords and then looked at the back of my TV to find out that the TV and the base station for the headphones do not have a match component input. Without a doubt, not realizing this ahead of time is 100% my fault. Back to the store we went to look for an adapter (which I'll post my surprising review on it's product page). Once I was back at home, I used the adapter to connect an optical cable from my TV to the adapter. Then I connected one end of the included 3.5mm cord to the adapter and the other end of the cord to the headphones' base station. Sony is nice enough to include a pair of rechargeable AAA batteries for your use. Make sure to let them charge up completely before your first use. Once everything was connected, TV sound output setting adjusted, headphones charged, it was time to give it a go and after owning for months, here are some of my experiences: Comfort: Great - I would wear these for hours on a daily basis and never had any discomfort. The ear pads fit around the ear nicely and each side can be adjusted. Battery Life: Great - I never had any problems with the battery life. As long as you charge them every couple of days and turn them off when not in use, you will not have any problems either. Connection / Interference: Poor - This is was ultimately pushed me into getting a different (but more expensive) set of headphones. These headphones transmit wireless sound via radio frequency. Everyone should anticipate some interference when it comes to radio frequency. Sony anticipated it to the point that they included an Auto Tuning button on the underside of one of the drivers. According to the product data, users should be able to get 150 feet of comfortable listening. If you take away anything from reading my experience of these headphones, let it be this. I set the base station at a location with absolutely nothing in between us. I had any unnecessary electronics put away (just in case that could cause addition interference). Finally, I used my laser tape measure to get the distance of the headphones to the base station. I was sitting 10 ft. 9 1/4 in. away from the base station and getting all kinds of static interference coming through the speakers. Pressing the auto tuning button on the headphones made little to no noticeable difference. I tried changing to one of the other two channels on the base station and putting the base station in all different locations. Some days the static was not too noticeable. Other days the static was so bad that I gave up trying to use the headphones for the night. After so many months of going through this repetitive cycle with the same outcome, I determined it was time to make these headphones a secondary set and purchased a set of headphones that were a little bit more expensive, but when it comes to my experience with these headphones, you get what you pay for.

    Don’t recommend these headphones

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 28, 2025

I bought this exactly 3 months ago . They worked for 2 months and now I hear sporadic static in them. I checked the connections , changed the batteries, checked the router ,checked the outlet ,and even bought new av cables from Best Buy. Nothing makes the static disappear . Very disappointed . I don’t have the box or the receipt so I can’t return them to Best Buy. I just want to exchange them. But I’m stuck with them. I thought SONY was a good brand to buy buyt highly disappointed.

    The perfect gift

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 5, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as a gift for my dad when he comes to visit. Mainly for his hearing problems, he can crank it up as loud as he wants and it does not disturb anyone around him. This is a perfect way to show him you care without offending him with his loss of hearing.

    Finicky Headphones

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 15, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've never used headphones before so maybe my expectations are wrong. I still haven't figured out how the "charging indicator light" is supposed to work; but so far they've always been charged. There is more static than I expected. I tried changing the channel from the receiver, but no matter which channel worked, the other two were completely silent. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to work. The headset is also a little big for me. I asked for "sound cancelling" headphones for Christmas. These help, but certainly come no where close to cancelling the ambient sound in the room. Sound is only muffled. Maybe next year I'll try again.

A Gift to My Mom-She LOVES Them

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 9, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these as a gift for my 86 year old Mom because she was having difficulty understanding dialogue in TV movies and shows. These headphones have made all the difference for her. With the voice setting on, she can keep up with all the dialogue and enjoy her shows and movies. Since she has macular degeneration and losing her eye sight, being unable to enjoy shows was very discouraging for her. PROBLEM SOLVED! The headphones were extremely easy to hook up and we love the wireless charger she hangs them on night. If you are looking for something to enhance TV viewing experience, these are fantastic. I think I might get me a pair as well!

Doesn't work with TVs with no audio out connection

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 28, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had to buy a new optical cable and an optical converter box to get these to work with our newer LG TV. Once we hooked them up there was nothing but horrible static. We unhooked everything and hooked the headphones to an older TV that had an Audio output connection. Once we hooked them up to the old TV, they sounded awesome. Headed back to Best Buy tomorrow to buy the Insignia brand that has a direct optical hookup on it. We will still need to use the optical cable that we already bought. People should be warned about needing these extra things. Fingers crossed that the Insignia with the direct optical cable connection works for us.

    Not compatible with PC?

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 3, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased these to use with my PC. I was unable to establish a connection despite having plugged in the audio cable to my PC. I now suspect that these are only compatible with devices that don't detect if something is plugged in, but I am honestly not sure what the issue is. It may be that I was not using them for their intended purpose (somehow only compatible with TV?) but I didn't see anywhere in the product description or instructions where it stated that the headphones would not work with a PC. If a special setup is required to work with PC, there are no warnings or instructions that that is the case. Perhaps I simply received a bad set?
