This is the official re-release of the debut Stone Axe album in a deluxe package. The two disc set features 8 bonus live tracks on the original 10 song CD and over 70 minutes of video footage captured throughout the bands career on the DVD. Includes a 6-page fold out booklet with liner notes written by The Obelisk's JJ Koczan. While the Guitar work is the major force here, its also the vocals of Dru that also stands out.His voice is Phil Lynott meets David Coverdale and so much so,you will think you are listening some long lost 70's band record. REVIEW "If you missed out on 2009's self titled release from Stone Axe then you missed out on of truly one of the best fantastic classic hard rock albums released in recent years. This is one of those albums that just gets better each time you play it. This time around in addition to the original studio album we get a pile of live tracks added onto the CD. If you like what you hear on the studio recordings then you are really in for a treat because the band sounds even more at ease on stage. So did this album deserve a collector's edition? After listening and watching both discs my answer is a definite yes. This a fantastic set and even if you have the original disc it's still worth getting because all the extras will make you appreciate this band even more." -- Heavy Metal Time Machine"Ripple Music unleash a reissue that was on the top of my top albums for 2009. You will not be disappointed. The real treat here is the original studio album, 8 bonus live tracks and a DVD with videos, live material and interviews. If you've heard the original release, you know how good the songs are. That's a lot of (welcomed) Stone Axe music. For those who have yet to listen to Stone Axe, this is a great starting point. Imagine old classic rock bands like Thin Lizzy, Free, Molly Hatchet, and Bad Company (among many more). The included DVD is a real gem. A lot of the material has been found on YouTube in ok quality before but now it's available is high quality video for the first time. I've been a fan of Stone Axe since the first time I heard their music on Myspace many moons ago. I own 4 versions of this album (2 CD, 2 LP). This is the best version yet." -- The Soda Shop"STONE AXE are masters of their disciplines, which is the blues-based heavy rock of the 1970's. It is obvious that their music comes from the heart and that it's not an idea born from the wish to be rich and famous. To make it short: the Ripple Music Deluxe Edition is a superb package and the bonus tracks as well as the DVD are more than just a great bonus! More people should listen to Stone Axe" -- Cosmic Lava"Stone Axe's new deal with integrity-driven rock label Ripple Music has brought about a double-disc re-issue packed with enough bonus material to make it worth the re-buy even for those lucky enough to get a copy of the original release. The key to this re-issue, apart from perhaps making the excellent original album available in a few terrorties previously deprived of it, is the bonus material. And Ripple Music have not scrimped in that department. The DVD, and especially the CD, demonstrate what an excellent band Stone Axe are, with a sound crying out to be played alongside the likes of Spooky Tooth and contemproaries like Witchcraft and Graveyard." -- Jukebox Metal"The album especially impresses as a thoroughly fresh take on good old-fashioned classic rock. Riding the wave between Sabbath and Skynard. Heavy hypnotic, bluesy rock. Stone Axe are on a mission to recreate the classic sounds of the 60's and 70's rock." -- Classic Rock Magazine, May, 2011 ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in 2007 in Port Orchard, Washington, at the hands of multi-instrumentalist T. Dallas Reed, whose prior outfit Mos Generator was beginning to follow a direction that no longer fit the band, as soon as there was a Stone Axe, there was a purpose, a reason for its being. Seventies rock preservation. Stone Axe was made and continues to flourish solely to honor the forefathers of true heavy rock and roll. It's not about fashion. It's not about overanalyzing or trying to follow this or that trend. It's about the spirit of rock and roll, the spirit of creation. Stone Axe makes organically grown, passionately harvested classic rock and roll. You can hear it in Reed's guitar, or in the swaggering vocals of singer Dru Brinkerhoff. The drive isn't to innovate, but to celebrate. When you listen to Stone Axe, you hear parts that call to mind these heroes of rock and you're happy. It's okay to smile. That means you get it. Stone Axe aren't out to reinvent the wheel, they're out to keep it round in a world that's decided it would be better squared off. See more
