Bulky and pricey, but gets the job done
- May 29, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The TP Link WiFi extender does a good job at extending WiFi coverage. I put it in the mud room to extend coverage to the security camera on the garage, and I no longer have interruptions in recordings. I give this product 3 stars because of the size and price of the product and difficult setup. The product is about the size (height and width) of two hands together. It also has a bright blue light that you can’t turn off. It’s somewhat of a good thing if you want to use it as a night light.

Worked Well for Me!
- September 20, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little concerned about a few of the reviews where people had issues with their setup, I took the plunge based on the positive reviews and the unit went on an excellent sale so decided I could always take it back if it gave me issues. Glad I did as the setup was a breeze. I have it on the far end of our house to allow for stronger connections with devices in the garage (which is separate and even farther away) and it works perfectly. Those devices would randomly send me notifications of a lost internet signal on a regular basis. Once I set this up (2.4 only, as I needed the range) , those have all gone away. Would definitely purchase, again.

Amazing Range Extender – Now I’m Getting The Speed
- March 14, 2016[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Long time users of the internet can remember modems and dialup. I had two phone lines so I wouldn’t tie up the main phone line. I then progressed to DSL and finally cable. The instant internet connections were glorious – and then came WiFi. I thought I was in heaven! However, there was one problem. My house is long and the cable came in at one end of the house and that’s where my router was located. I had great coverage at that end of the house but was a little spotty in the other end. I have an Airport Extreme base station and was very happy with it. I had tried other range extenders, but they seemed to slow down my connection and they proved to not be very reliable. So when I had the chance to try the TP-Link AC1750 RE450 Range Extender, I was expecting to be disappointed as I was with the other range extenders. Boy was I surprised! The first thing you notice about the AC1750 is it size. It’s not small. The electrical plug is at the bottom of the unit and covers most of the other plug in your electrical outlet. This is a small price to pay for the performance – more on that in a bit. It is 6.5 inches long and 8 inches with the middle antenna extended. It is 1.5 inches deep and 3 inches wide but 5.5 inches wide with both side antennas flipped up. Once you plug it in, a blue LED power light lets you know that it is ready to go. The quick instruction guide follows you through the set up. There are two options – using a web browser and using WPS. I used the web browser. In your Wi-Fi settings you will select TP-LINK_Extender_2.4GHz and then go to your web browser of choice and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net. Use admin for both the username and password. You will be prompted to change both of these and then you will be guided through the rest of the setup process. I selected to keep the existing SSID and to have both the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz networks show as one. When the settings are to your liking, the extender will reboot and you will set the 2.4GHz and 5GHz light lit up. The large circular button will have a blue ring around it if your extender is in a good location (at least halfway between the router and your dead zone) and red if it is too far away. Now for the real test. Did it help my dead spot and increase my speeds? I know that the 2.4 GHz band can travel farther, but the 5 GHz is better because it can transfer larger amounts of data and is less congested. I used a Wi-Fi app to test the coverage on my Mac. The results are shown in the pictures. I was in the middle of my house and could barely see the 5 GHz band before the extender, but after I was not only seeing it there but everywhere in my house! I recently upgraded to a 30 Mbps internet plan and was only getting that in the bedroom above where my router was located. As you can see in the picture, I was not getting the speed I was paying for. This picture was taken at the complete opposite end of the house! I went from 15 Mbps to 34 Mbps. There is also an Gigabit port if you want to run an Ethernet cable to it. I can not sing the praises of this range extender enough. With all the streaming and downloading that is being done in my home, the increased speeds and coverage is amazing. If there are any problems, it comes with a two year warranty and 24/7 technical support. It says on the box it will work with any W-Fi router. It played very nicely with my Apple Airport Extreme. I’m sure that it you get this extender you will not be disappointed!! (This is a review of a free product received by TP-LINK as part of the review program.)

So-so
- July 17, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a way of getting better wifi coverage in my patio and for my Ring Devices. It does actually help. I'm able to keep my connection now at either 2.4 ghz or 5.0 ghz when in my backyard. As for speed, It's rated at 1300 mbps at 5ghz. My iphone will clock at pretty solid 500 mbps. If I switch to the extender, at the same exact spot , it only clocks at 150 tops. I mean, for Iphone and Ipad usage thats good enough, My main goal was to improve reception. I now get full wifi bars when connected to extender. Download the app to set it up, much easier and intuitive. Also, the three antennae are pretty cheaply made.

Very happy with us
- April 2, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best investment I’ve made in months!! I had a terrible dead zone in the back of the house where the master bedroom is and my LG smart TV just would not connect automatically constantly had to manually connected until I purchased this. The TV now connects automatically within seconds and the Wi-Fi signal for everything seems stronger and faster with less of a strain at the main router. The only thing I wish TP Link would have done is merge this into one thing on the app both the extender and my main router are to link, Both devices are displayed in the app or separately I wish they would emerged it so all the devices are on one page but other than that it’s perfect

Do not recommend
- May 10, 2020I purchased this approximately three months ago. Set up was easy, but I have had to reboot completely to the original factory settings and set it up all over again approximately every three weeks to keep it working. Extremely frustrating.

Great to extend a network signal
- June 25, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using it as an Access Point (AP) gives it better performance than a simple Range Extender (RE). No need to try and boost a weak signal to begin with. We have Cat-6 throughout our home, so running this AC1750 from one of our network ports as an AP extends a Wi-Fi signal that our Verizon Wi-Fi 6 router cannot accomplish. We use this TP-Link-AC1750 (RE450) in the basement and a TP-Link-AC2600 (RE650) also as an RE on the 2nd Floor.

Pretty good once you figure out where to place
- April 3, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing was a little temperamental at first. My master is on the edge of my property and has been a complete dead zone, which during quarantine with an Amazon fire TV was not a super combination. Positioning this both in the bedroom or at the outlet immediately outside of the bedroom did not provide consistent service. Once I played around with it a little bit I got a lot more consistent signal. From time to time my iPad still has a hard time picking up the signal but every other device in my room seems to recognize it. All in all it’s pretty great value once you figure out the best place to put it.

Home on the Range
- January 2, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As good as it was reviewed. Only issue I had was yard and garage. 17,500 square foot yard is now almost completely covered and the detached garage has a signal. Read the instructions and setup is fast and easy if you have a modern router they will find each other with two button pushes. I just purchased a new wifi modem and it didn't connect to the 5G the first time but now it is right as rain.

Easy set up. So far so good.
- October 18, 2021Purchased to help get a better than marginal signal to the kids bedrooms for online school. Bought a different brand and after hours of fighting to set it up, gave up short of throwing it over the fence and returned it. Picked up this guy instead with zero expectations after my last experience. This was up and running in about 5 min. App set up was very easy and quick. Seems to be working just fine at first glance. Signal in the kids rooms has gone from weak to strong and videos are downloading fine where they wouldn’t before. One device isn’t connecting (Roku) but that’s the only hassle so far.
