Huge disappointment
- December 19, 2020We had a V-Tech for years and the hands-free function worked well as long as we did not adjust the volume. Then the (out-going) voice transmission began to break-up so badly we could not be understood. We require this function on the phone as we work from home on teleconferencing and require a landline phone for confidentiality. Given our long (5 years) good success, we purchased an identical phone. The new phone immediately had the same problem. This was very disappointing as every other aspect this phone is a joy to use. Many other users experienced this same problem. Now we are researching the reviews of the competitors.

Don't waste your money
- November 7, 2020I purchased this phone on Apr.6/12, and May 31/13, and Jul.13/17. They are only warrantied for 1 year ONLY. The second one lasted 4 years. The third one lasted 3 years. Problems: the screen stops working (all of mine did this), the last one the ringer stopped working and did not receive calls. Spend a little more and buy a better rated phone.

WOrks, but has weak points
- October 4, 2023The VTEch Corded Phone with Caller ID (CD1281) is a desk top phone. It is relatively siple to use, although the display for Caller ID for incoming calls is poor. The volume controls for the handset and hands free are good. I have not tried to program the 10 frequently called numbers. I have so many that 10 does not help. The handset is flimsy and is unlikely to stand up to heavy wear and tear. The manual u]is good in parts, and poor in others. The power cable provided is ridiculously short. There is only one ring tone, and it may not please every user. It was cheap and does its job. I will be interested to see how it stands up to everydat use in an office after five years!

Deteriorated Fast
- September 24, 2015Initially fine, but after a few months, screen display deteriorated badly. Many pixels became inactive, to the point where numbers or names are often completely illegible. As well, stored numbers are randomly dropped from memory for no apparent reason. I chose the phone largely because of its large, clear display, so it is a big disappointment that it turns out to be illegible, and having to constantly re-enter stored numbers is a large nuisance. So this phone gets a very poor rating..

poor quality speaker phone
- February 1, 2017The poor quality of the speaker phone makes this purchase almost useless. I'd return it, but I'm just too lazy to bother.

Great Phone!
- August 22, 2010I really like this phone. After buying so many other phones and returning them, this phone has almost everything I was looking for. I'm not sure what Angela's problems are, but I have not experienced any of the problems she has described, and the screen light does stay on but I guess that it just dosen't bother me. The phone has various volume controls and even a volume boost, the screen display is great (I set the contrast to 1) and storing phone #'s is a snap. The only draw backs is that it doesn't let you know when there is a message waiting, and the volume of the ring is not loud enough to wake me up if I'm sleeping which I would prefer. To me, these are minor points. Overall, I would recommend this phone.

Phone Stopped Working Properly
- June 25, 2011My Phone no longer works in Touch Tone Mode. It will work in Pulse Mode. I pick up the phone I hear a dial tone yet when I press the buttons nothing changes. I don't hear the button sounds. eventually I get the message to hang up the phone. Data Pulse mode is torcher. You can press the phone number as fast as you want but its going to take forever for the number to actually finish dialing in pulse mode. Its just like using one of those old wheel phones. depending on which numbers are pressed will determine how long the pulses last for each number pressed.

Do Not Bother
- October 17, 2015After only a few months the call display disappeared from the screen. Tried to remedy the problem but without success. Not worth the cost or time to send out for repairs.

lacks 'heft'
- August 13, 2020Quite frankly, I wish I had purchased a more expensive telephone. The one I selected is light weight, sounds "tinny" and slides off my desk in use, it is just too light. Some folks may enjoy the lighter weight but I find it annoying. Having said that, I will say the service in store was incredible, friendly, accommodating, humourous and an exceptionally pleasant encounter. I ordered my item on a Monday morning and it was delivered on Wednesday afternoon...quick service!!!
