Next-level tracking

The Fitbit Versa 3 takes the best of the previous Versa smartwatches and adds several key features to make it versatile and impactful. The most notable change is the built-in GPS, which now lets you track pace and distance without needing your phone to do it instead. When you go outside for a run, hike, walk or bike ride, you can see your route afterward on a map in the Fitbit app.

The GPS data works together with other sensors in the watch to track your workout intensity so you can see where you worked the hardest along the route. With GPS on board, you won’t always have to bring your phone along when venturing for an outdoor activity.

The heart rate monitor also gets an upgrade through the PurePulse 2.0 sensor. It is better able to keep track of heart rate variances, and works during any activity to identify Active Zone Minutes when you reach a target rate.

The PurePulse 2.0 sensor can also point out when those variances seem unusual, giving you a heads up that something may not be right. The Fitbit app collects that heart rate data where it contributes to the wider health data on the app’s dashboard.

Sleep quality data

Wearing the Versa 3 while sleeping doesn’t mean it stops working. It tracks you while you sleep to assess the quality of how well you’re actually sleeping. It combines the time you’re in light, deep and REM sleep to come up with a Sleep Score that can provide insight into how good it was.

There is a Smart Wake alarm built into the watch that will wake you at the optimal time so that you are ready to rise and take on the day. The Versa 3 has a speaker that can sound the alarm on its own, along with a gentle vibration to ease you out of your slumber.

Using your voice, listening to music

There are new features that make the connection to your iPhone or Android phone more convenient. The new speaker lets you take incoming calls and talk back, or use voice-to-text to reply to messages (for Android phones only) and keep your phone in your pocket.

It also supports either Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free control over your smart home devices, set alarms, get weather info and learn more about the Versa 3’s features. The watch’s microphone can make many tasks easier when you want to control smart devices or receive quick information.

When you want to listen to music, you can also control that from the watch, particularly if you’re a Spotify or Deezer listener. Manage playback directly from the watch screen, and scroll through playlists to play what you want without grabbing your phone first.

Stylized anywhere, everywhere

It’s up to you on how you want the watch to look. There are hundreds of clock faces to select from to customize the look onscreen. You also have the option to swap out straps to make the Versa 3 fit a particular occasion or outfit. Bands come in a variety of colours, textures and materials, covering just about any style or purpose.
