Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (MUF82AM/A)

I got this solely to be able to play my AppleTv+ subscription since it’s the only thing I can’t cast to any of my smart TVs from my iPad Pro. Occasional issue getting things to start (connection may not initially work but if you unplug the iPad and then try again it works) but once things are correct it works seamlessly. Simple to travel with so definitely ends up being worth the price. In a perfect world with all of the technology that most smart TVs have I wouldn’t have to connect anything extra to the tv to be able to cast AppleTv+ (including having to invest in the AppleTv device) but this isn’t a bad option to get it done.

This adapter is great. I needed a USB port to restore my new MacBook Pro from another Mac. My backup drive has a USB plug. My new backup drive will have a USB-C plug. It also has a USB-C plug and HDMI. The only thing is, I wish it had a lightning plug so I could use my headphones. I have a set of Apple pods but I usually keep those at home. When I’m at work I have headphones and I can’t use them. I tried an adapter USB-C to lightning and it would not work. I initially bought one of those adapters that plugs into the side of both plugs and sort of attaches to the computer. It was crap. It wouldn’t stay attached and was very annoying. This one is way better..

I picked this up for my work mac so I could create a home dock with my monitor. It turns out that the USB C connector works with my (personal) Surface Pro as well. It supports dual screen mode. We have a second work multiport adapter for work that takes up both the USB-C ports and requires us to plug in the laptop to power. This one doesn't, so you can operate off battery power only if you just need to get online for a few minutes for a quick email or very short call, or you can plug in if you need the power. It is also very flat, so it packs into the work laptop bag without any bulk.
