Does not toast both sides. Burns fruit toasts
- January 16, 2022I just picked this up 2 days ago and used it for the first time today. I experimented with 6 toasts - burnt all 6! After half a loaf in the bin, I had to stand there and pop it out part way, continuously checking the browning every so often.

THIS IS A TOASTER!
- September 8, 2016I had purchased a toaster that was on sale from Best Buy that couldn't toast my bread after three consecutive attempts (with the same pieces of bread). I decided to order the Breville 2-Slice Toaster and after removing it from the box I immediately inserted two pieces of bead, set the shade to '4' and started. When the toast popped it was fully toasted (so much so that I dropped the setting to 3 1/2 for my normal toasting). This is a well built, serious toaster with really good features that work. Highly recommended!

Great for bagels and English muffins
- March 23, 2016March 22, 2016 Have had for only 4 weeks, so not able to judge durability or sturdiness. Really like the way bread is toasted. Finished product is crisp and nicely browned. What we HAD to have was a proper bagel function. Purchased a Sunbeam and a Black and Decker toaster, and returned both. The bagel function toasted the inside AND the outside, making the outside hard and overdone. Very disappointing! After reading reviews saying the Breville toaster had a proper bagel function, decided to give it a try and ordered it. My husband and I are very pleased with toasting ciabattas, bagels and English muffins. Recommend this toaster based on our experience to this point.

Slow
- April 26, 2025Have been using a for a month now. One of the quests I've forever had in my life has been a toaster thats quick and browns very evenly. 2 things sadly missing from my latest toaster investment. Yes it has some good features like the led progress display, easy duration adjustment and lift to see progress. But if you want a quick toaster or even a medium timed toaster you better look elsewhere. Out of many toasters over the years this disappointingly is by far the slowest. If using this my new routine is press the lever down then go and cook the rest of my breakfast so toast is just popping up at the end.

I’d like to meet the engineer who designed this toaster.
- March 20, 2025I purchased this toaster approximately 2 years ago. I paid 3 times the price I normally pay for toasters. First time using, I could not retrieve the toast. It was sunk so low in the center that I had to hold it upside down to get it out. This creates a huge mess of crumbs everywhere. Did someone not test this design? It took me weeks to find an appropriate tong (small enough and not 100% metal) to retrieve my toast, without said mess. The footprint of this toaster is ginormous on my counter. If it’s going to claim so much real estate, it should provide excellent functionality. I regret the purchase. I would never recommend this toaster to anyone. Perhaps Breville should stick to blenders only!

Very Efficient
- February 14, 2021After researching madly; this was the most efficient and accurate bread browning unit I could find in a 2 slice category. Also love the “little bit more” button for when you err on the side of caution.

Consistently burns toasts. Seems like it has minds of its own and disregards settings.

do not waste your money
- April 5, 2021I bought this toaster thinking that paying extra for a product would mean a better longer lasting toaster. Wrong. This toaster lasted 9 months then started only toasting on one side, the inside face of the toast was not done. Breville replaced the unit with a new one which took 3 months to be shipped. ( I was without a toaster all that time) Now 4 months with the new toaster the same problem is happening but now the warranty is up. I thought Breville products were good but I guess that was wrong. I am left with a nice looking toaster that is useless

Puzzeled!
- November 13, 2014Have toaster manufacturers lost the art of toasting. I have bought several toasters of late, different brands and find none know how to toast a slice of bread evenly nor consistently ! The Breville gets high marks on the Canadian consumer report but why to I have white bands running up and down my toast and why is my toast unevenly toasted (dark on the bottom and almost white on top)? Plus it varies from one toast to the other! Come on we are talking toasters, my Mother's old GE puts all these punched tin toasters to shame!
