The printer is always running some type of cleaning or something of the sort. Whatever it is, uses up the ink. It is so frustrating to not have used the printer, only to go to use it and the cartridges are empty. I needed to print a return label before I head out of town, but can’t as the black is empty. Printed just fine 2 weeks ago and I haven’t used the printer since then. This is not something new and one reason I won’t be purchasing a brother printer again. Never had this problem with another brand. It will even say they are empty when there is clearly ink in them. Now to figure out how to get a document printed before I leave for out of town.

Now that Brother has discontinued the MFCs, it is trying to sell empty LC ink cartirdges or junk ink cartridges. My MFCJ4710DW worked just fine until I replaced the ink cartidges this week with authentic Brother brand LC103 ink cartridges, that came without the familiar orange and green keeper that must be removed before installation, from my local dealer. None of the new cartidges worked. My MFCJ4710DW says they are all empty. I've noticed other reviews on this page with the same complaint. Brother offers NO support! I have been unable to make any meaningful contact with Brother and no, chat doesn't count. Call 877-BROTHER, yeah, that's a joke too. An explanation is in order here.

The printers and ink cartridges are both more reasonably priced than other major brands. I chose a new brother printer after my HP multifunction printer, scanner and copier stopped working. Paid only $69.99 for this new comparable multifunction device. The quality is comparable to any good printer and the ink cartridges run longer than more expensive HP ink cartridges. I am actually glad that my HP printer stopped working as this printer and ink has already saved me over a 100 bucks in just a few months.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brother ink is more economical than some other brands and has an excellent shelf-life. I've had my Brother printer for 6 years and I've never had a cartridge dry-out and stop printing before it was empty - a problem I experienced with HP printers/ink. Having a separate cartridge for each color conserves ink vs. tri-color cartridges that typically require replacement before all the ink colors have been consumed. Print quality for text is excellent, even in fast ink saving mode. Photos and graphic images are OK, probably not as rich as Cannon or HP printers & ink.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought I would just go home, pop this into my printer, and that'd be the end of it. Just print some pictures to hang on our walls, no big deal. Well by golly gee, imagine my surprise when I printed some pictures off and this magical ink brought them to life! And I don't mean moving pictures like boring old Harry Potter, everything was popping out of the page and in my house! Only con is that my computer wigged out, printed 100 copies of my dog, so now I've gotta figure out what to do with 101 Dalmatians.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this for a MFC-J875DW printer. It works excellently. I still haven't counted to see if I can actually get 600 pages out of it, but I do find the amount I can get to be acceptable. The cartridge is sealed well, so I haven't seen any leaking or anything like that. This is a good think considering where/how the product is stored or is sitting in the printer. As most people probably already know, use Draft or Fast Print to save ink. That will help in getting the most out of your ink cartridge.
