The Canon RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens is a compact wide-angle zoom designed to deliver high image quality, a bright constant aperture, effective stabilization, and travel-friendly portability for both photographers and video creators. Covering an ultra-wide to wide-angle 16-28mm range, it is well suited to landscapes, architecture, interiors, travel, street photography, and content creation. Its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture maintains consistent performance throughout the zoom range, benefits shooting in available light, and provides greater control over depth of field and background separation. The advanced 16-element, 13-group optical construction incorporates four Ultra-low Dispersion elements and two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic aberrations while maintaining excellent resolution, contrast, and edge-to-edge image quality. Canon's Super Spectra Coating helps suppress flare and ghosting while supporting accurate color reproduction, and a rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh. Built-in Optical Image Stabilization provides up to 5.5 stops of shake correction on cameras without IBIS and up to 8 stops when coordinated with a compatible camera's stabilization system for sharper handheld results. A leadscrew-type STM motor provides fast, quiet autofocus and accurate subject tracking while helping minimize focus breathing during video recording. Weather-resistant durability comparable to Canon's L-series lenses provides added confidence in challenging environments. With minimum focusing distances of 7.9" at 28mm and 9.8" at 16mm, a versatile 67mm filter thread, and an approximately 1 lb design, the RF 16-28mm f/2.8 delivers a compelling balance of optical performance, speed, stabilization, and portability.
