What customers are saying

The lens offers excellent image quality, fast autofocus, and a compact, lightweight design. It is praised as versatile and well-suited for street photography, travel, and everyday use. However, some users note it may not be ideal for portrait photography, and the autofocus can struggle in low light compared to other prime lenses.

    A great 35mm equivalent lens

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - June 27, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lens is light and compact, which suits the X-T3 perfectly. It’s also a good focal length for general, everyday photography. The 35mm equivalent focal length wasn’t something I was very familiar with or comfortable prior to purchasing this lens; I am usually more comfortable with a 50mm lens (35mm on Fuji). However, I’m trying to improve as a photographer and get out of my comfort zone, so I decided to try this lens. The weather resistance is another selling point for me, since I live in a cold, snowy climate for half the year. I took this lens with me to a baseball game yesterday and had a lot of fun capturing candid shots of the fans around me. It’s very inconspicuous compared to whipping out a full frame DSLR, so I think this lens would be awesome for street photography as well.

    Great everyday lens

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 22, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only been shooting with this lens for a few weeks, but it has practically lived on my X-T4 the whole time. Quick focus, nice clarity, lightweight, and is a fantastic walk around lens. It's my favorite everyday carry lens.

    Exceptional Lens for Stunning Photos!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 29, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased this lens, and it has completely exceeded my expectations. The image quality is sharp from edge to edge, with beautiful color rendering and fantastic contrast. Whether I’m shooting portraits, landscapes, or low-light scenes, the performance is always top-notch. The autofocus is quick and silent, making it perfect for capturing those candid moments. It’s also incredibly well-built—solid and sturdy without being too heavy, which makes it great for long shooting sessions. This lens has truly elevated my photography game, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a professional-grade lens that delivers stunning results every time!

    What a tiny little marvel!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 1, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you're coming from the world of DSLRs, then this lens embodies everything positive about the switch to mirrorless. It's tiny. Super tiny. It weighs practically nothing. It's sharp, even wide open. The focus and aperture rings are nicely dampened and smooth. It's nicely sealed and leaves me feeling confident about shooting in inclement weather or poor conditions. More than anything else, this lens with an XT-3 is fun. XT-30 too. Small, light, great IQ, and a high fun-factor. I love this whole range of lenses, and 23mm on an APS-C body is a great focal length for everything from environmental portraits, to photojournalism, to street photography, to landscapes.

    Must Have!!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 21, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I saw several reviews on this lens as the preferred everyday lens for Fuji X-mount cameras. I have to say that yes, I agree with having this lens added to anyone's inventory or at least part of your current go-to lens for everyday use.

    Great/best wide camera

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 28, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's so wide that I can't go back to normal 35mm. I love it! Not the best for portraits though

Perfect Match for the New X-E5

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 21, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 R WR is an excellent lens and a perfect match for the new X-E5. It keeps the whole setup compact and lightweight, which makes it super easy to carry around every day. Autofocus is fast and reliable, and the image quality is outstanding with sharp details and beautiful Fuji colors. The weather resistance is also a big plus for outdoor shooting. If you own the X-E5, this lens feels like it was made for it — highly recommended!

A good lens for street and travel photography

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 12, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's not my favorite Fuji lens. That would be the 35mm 1.4 or the 16 mm 1.4. They are more expensive, but the image quality seems to have more "character." It's a bit soft when shot close up at F2. It is, however, a good lens with the fastest autofocusing I've seen in the Fuji lineup. It's also weather sealed, unlike the 35mm, and has a very unobtrusive look. The size and autofocusing speed make it a great street and travel lens.

    Just what I wanted

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 4, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What can I say? I've been very pleased with all of my Fujifilm lenses and this one is no exception. I bought it for a commercial video I was working on, and it performed very well. It's sharp, has a great close focusing distance and makes beautiful bokeh. I went with this over the 1.4 for the faster focus and weather seal, though I'm sure I'll end up with a 1.4 eventually too. Fuji makes great gear.
