- Check Your Angles- May 27, 2020
The GoPro Chesty is a quality product if you are hiking, kayaking or trail running. The same cannot be written if we are talking about Mountain Biking because it requires the rider to lean slightly forward, which places the camera in a downward angle. The video captured during my recent downhill ride was of the handlebar, front tire, and some of the environment ahead unless I stood up for an upcoming jump. There is a hack where the camera can be flipped, but this hack exposes the camera mount to damage if you're an unfortunate soul that is crash-prone, i.e., me! Again, great product, just not the best for MTB, in my opinion.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I like the offset of the mounting of the camera, aligning the lens into the center of the body. Because GoPros, except the Session series, have there lens offset; thus, bring the view back into balance. Other third party brands don't offer this setup and the resulting footage is annoying (more of one arm than the other). The first picture is of the third party chest mounting and the second shot is from the GoPro chest mount. The only thing I don't like about this harness is that it is made in China as with a lot of things these days. I prefer American brands to be made here in the USA. Regardless of that, I believe it is worth the money, especially if you like the chest mounted view.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Initial impression is good, used it kayaking and it worked well. Not the easiest accessory to use with a PFD though, so keep that in mind for water sports. It's pretty easy to adjust the angle up or down as desired, and taking the camera out of the mount to swap batteries isn't bad. Might be nice to be able to swivel side to side when kayaking since you can only rotate your torso so far, but that's a lot to ask for the price. Overall a good accessory so far. I'm using this for kayak fishing with a GoPro 6, and seated it caught me rigging tackle and casting well, as well as catching and releasing fish. I could see this being useful for recording any kind of tutorial where you're working with your hands right in front of you as well.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
