  • POWERFUL – AFFORDABLE AIR CLEANER
    Reviewed by TheOffice1234 - December 6, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] POWERFUL – AFFORDABLE AIR CLEANER INSIGNIA - 380 SQ. FT. HEPA AIR PURIFIER - WHITE MODEL:NS-APMWH2 Best Buy Tech Insider Network REVIEW: My expectations were far exceeded by the affordable and powerful INSIGNIA - 380 SQ. FT. HEPA AIR PURIFIER. If this is representative of the current state of INSIGNIA products, then I will continue to take a closer look at the brand (Best Buy house brand). The only downside I could find was that it is a little loud on the highest setting. Since it is deigned for a larger room, it should not be too noticeable even on high, but certainly on low or automatic you probably won’t hear it over other everyday sounds. For cleaning the air, it does a great job. It was super easy to unbox and set up. Just pull off all the plastic (don’t forget the filter) and turn it on. The menus are easy to read, understand, and use. I like that there is an easy to see / read status on the device itself. I like and prefer that you don’t need a phone app to use the INSIGNIA - 380 SQ. FT. HEPA AIR PURIFIER. Maybe I’m a luddite, but not everything in the world needs to be online and remote controlled by your phone. GEEKY STUFF NOISE: I recorded audio at the highest setting and it was about 75 db (about the same as a vacuum). AIR CLEANING: After 24 hours in a 12x13 room the ppm 2.5 (fine particle parts per million) reading changed from 10 to 7. That is a 30% reduction as measured by a different meter than what is built into the unit. My TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds) went from 136 to 5 ppm. PRO’s - Built in display meter - Large unit for higher airflow - Affordable and high quality RECOMMENDATION If you are looking for a powerful high quality affordable air cleaner, take a close look at INSIGNIA - 380 SQ. FT. HEPA AIR PURIFIER.

  • Affordable and Works Great!
    Reviewed by CKent - December 14, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At this point I may just have one of the most air purified homes there are. This is my 4th air purifier in my modest 1500 sf house. That also gives me a lot to compare. As far as how well it actually purifies the air it does what its made to do. This one went into my home office which is the only room that didn't have one prior and I tend to have the door shut most of the time, so it didn't really get much air purification from the other 3 air purifiers I have in other areas of the house. Working in this small space I can definitely tell a difference in the air quality. The 'auto' feature works well too and is really nice to have while working in my office. As long as the air quality remains good the fan runs at a low speed that doesn't bother me as I work, but at the same time I know that if the air quality starts dropping it'll speed up to handle that so that I can just set it and forget it. On the topic of air quality, this has a nice color coded meter with an actual reading of what the sensors are picking up in the air. I have no way of knowing how accurate it is, but it seems to coincide with what I sense in the air. Seeing it in the green gives a little peace of mind too, even if its more psychological. Form wise it looks good. It doesn't take up a lot of space and blends in nicely within the room. The taller square shape makes it easier to fit into just about any space. Also, it has a night mode that basically turns off all the lights so it's not lighting up your room when you don't want it to. It's not perfect though. When changing the fan speeds it does so slowly. Almost too slowly. Select a faster speed and it takes so long to get going you question whether its working for a moment. Not a big negative since it does get up to speed though. The bigger complaint I have though is the lack of a washable pre-filter. There's only one filter assembly in this unit and while it looks like it does have a pre-filter, it's not removable. What makes this really puzzling though is in the user guide under the list of features it clearly states: "Washable pre-filter removes large irritants such as hair and dander". Then further into the guide it states: "CAUTION: - Never wash the air filters." I get that you can't wash the main filter, that makes sense, but no further mention of this "washable pre-filter" anywhere else in the guide or that one is actually included. At least you can still technically pull the filter out and vacuum off any large hair/debris so it's not a deal breaker. Overall, this is actually a really good air purifier, especially for the price. Replacement filters aren't outrageously priced either and they're affordable. Given all that, even with the issue of this phantom washable pre-filter, I would still rate it a 5 and would recommend it to anyone needing an affordable air purifier.

  • Whisper Quiet Clean Air
    Reviewed by Aaronxx7 - December 13, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far the Insignia air purifier has been working great. It has a nice digital display with colored bars at both ends to show you at a glance what your air quality is. Green indicates "great", yellow "okay", orange is "bad" and red is "hazardous". The display also shows you the current PM 2.5 count. Most people are not aware of just how important this number is. Having a high PM 2.5 count can be detrimental to your health. Not only are the particles bad for people with allergies, but they can also affect people with lung or heart issues. There have even been actual studies showing that older people who live in areas of higher air pollution live shorter lives. PM 2.5 particles can damage heart tissue by inducing the inflammatory response, oxidative stress and intracellular free Ca2+ overload. These particles can also irritate the lungs, aggravate asthma and decrease lung function. Either way, this type of air pollution is something we want to limit, and a good air purifier is exactly the answer for better quality indoor air. PM 2.5 is particulate matter ranging in size of 2.5 micrometers or less. Obviously there are larger particles floating around in our air, but most of those can be combated with the body's natural defenses. The problem with particles 2.5 micrometers and less is that they can slip past those defenses and get absorbed by the alveoli and end up in our blood stream. Particle air pollution 2.5 microns or smaller is typically created by combustion. Which means cities and areas with abnormally high amounts of cars, and coal or natural gas power plants are going to have the highest numbers of air pollution. You can check your town or cities current air quality through a website called airnow .gov , the site sources live readings taken several times a day. Understanding the air quality outside your home can help you determine what is needed in your home. Aside from the outside air getting inside, PM 2.5 particles indoors can be formed and accumulate from cigarette smoke, candles, fireplaces and even cooking. A human hair is around 75 micrometers in diameter, dust (

  • Great air purifier
    Reviewed by Linksys - December 5, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Living in an area of the country where pollen is a problem in the spring and being an allergy sufferer, an air purifier is a must. Insignia gives allergy sufferers on a budget an option that doesn’t break the bank. The unit has a nice LED display that shows the air quality on the front and touch controls on the top. It has 5 operating modes, night, low, medium, high or auto. Night mode is basically low without the display on and auto sets the fan speed based the on air quality. Testing auto mode with a candle, the air purifier almost instantly (within a few seconds of the candle being placed near it) recognized the change in air quality and changed the fan speed. When the fan is on low it’s whisper quite, quite enough to be placed next to a bed and not disturb your sleep. Another plus is the filters even when they’re not on sale are very reasonably priced. If you need an air purifier but are on a budget, Insignia delivers an excellent option.

  • Works better than what I expected
    Reviewed by APFLORES413 - December 6, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are a family with allergies, which is why we got a hypoallergenic dog with low dander. We have tried many air purifiers from low end models to high end ones with mixed results. Enter the Insignia HEPA air purifier for our needs, and wow, it really made a difference in our home. Set up was pretty simple (plug and play), with an LED display that dominates the top front. Insignia states it for 380 Sq. Ft, and our home is under 1600. We placed it in our downstairs living room/dining room that is around 500sq ft. We definitely have noticed a difference, especially my son who has the worst of it. Even the dog’s odor was gone after an hour of use. The filtered air shoots upward instead to the sides, so I know that the air would be distributed to the entire room. The LED display is pretty self explanatory at the top and the air quality is prominently displayed. I was able to change the settings such as speed (3 different speeds) and adjust the timer (hour increments of 1, 2, 4 and 8) from this display. There is also a child lock ability which prevents my son from tampering with it. The only cons to this air purifier is that on the low setting you can barely eat or feel it. When you get to the medium setting it becomes very noticeable and loud. There really isn’t a middle ground to the sound level. Overall, this is great air purifier and has worked out for all of our allergies.
