Worth the Purchase
- July 23, 2025I inherited my MIL’s Kitchen Aid K5-a mixer. I immediately purchased the Fresh Prep Slicer /Shredder because I shred block cheese weekly. I cannot explain my sheer excitement and satisfaction of how well this product performed. Unlike most shredders, I did not have to pull compacted cheese out of the blade rotor. Nor excessively push the cheese down to go through the tube to grate. It simply did its job. I was so impressed I videoed and sent it to my husband and asked why we waited to get one of these mixers! We will be ordering the ice shaver and pasta maker/cutter soon!!! So well done Kitchen Aid! Thank you!!

Very sturdy
- May 3, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These slicer/shredder attachments work great. They are very study and well made. It is easy to attach to the KitchenAid, easy to use and easy to clean even with carrots! You can shred one carrot at a time, you have a small hole and a small pusher or several at the same time which I think is much faster. Put your attachment in place, add your veggies, cheese or whatever you want to cut and select the speed 4. The food won't go crazy and end up everywhere which is really nice, the sound level is good as I didnt even notice it. You just have to push hard to finish the shredding. The only thing is that I wish the small shredder was even smaller, I really like very small carrots. It is just the addition that I needed for my KitchenAid.

Highly recommend! High quality and so easy to use!
- May 3, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my fresh prep attachments! I have used it for so many meal preps. I shredded cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes and jalapeños for taco Tuesday. It works perfectly and quickly. I also use this for baking. The carrots worked perfectly for my carrot cake and coconut for muffins. The three blade cylinders are easy to hold on the edge safely. The attachments come off when you want to change them just by pushing them in. They are dishwasher safe. The design and stainless steel are high quality. These are made to last. I recommend this for anyone who loves to cook or bake.

Quick and easy to connect
- May 12, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer for most of my life. In fact, I have owned one longer than I have any of the houses I have lived in. All these years, I never bought an attachment. I thought, why would I need more things in my kitchen, where am I going to find the space? However, I was really excited when I learned about the Kitchen Aid Fresh Prep Slicer / Shredder because I have always used a hand grater or had to take out my food processor which is bulky and inconvenient. On the day the Slicer / Shredder arrived, I opened the box and found the attachments nested in black foam rubber padding. The box does such a great job of keeping them together and helping protect them from damage that I have been using it to store the attachments after each use. The main attachment was easy to connect. I just removed the dust cover from my mixer, slid the attachment into the housing, and tightened the screw. I first used the Slicer / Shredder to slice zucchini; the slices were consistent and perfect. Then, I used it to grate a carrot, not only was it fast, but also very efficient. I made the mistake of using a small bowl in the beginning and my vegetables were flying across the counter. A larger bowl remedied the problem and only the occasional slice gets loose now. I think most people would be hard-pressed to find a bowl that’s tall enough to reach the height of the attachments but the occasional loose veggie is only a minor annoyance. I’ve been enjoying the convenience of shredding and slicing using the mixer that stays on my counter full-time so much that I have been looking for excuses to use it. I’ve made a carrot cake, spiced carrot fritters, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, stir fry, oven-baked zucchini, shredded/sliced cheeses, Chinese Soup, etc. It has really been a timesaver for me. Cleanup is a breeze, too, rinsing clean with warm water. I still wash them with dishwashing soap to sanitize them, of course. However, the main plastic component got stained the first time I used it to shred carrots. It has been orange ever since. I don’t mind too much, especially since I have plenty of plastic food storage containers in my cabinet with a similar characteristic. In the beginning, I worried about finding space for these attachments, but that was soon remedied when I found a new home for my food processor and handheld shredder. I saw no reason to go back to those two methods. Overall, the Kitchen Aid Fresh Prep Slicer / Shredder has afforded me the ability to quickly and effectively slice and shred veggies and cheese using my Kitchen Aid mixer while saving space in my kitchen. I recommend it for anyone who keeps their mixer on the counter and wants to save time slicing and shredding, especially if they have limited cabinet space for storage otherwise.

An Easy to Use, Quality Set
- May 27, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment. Full transparency, I’m not the cook in my house. My wife is. It’s not a chauvinist thing. I grill but can’t prep or cook like she can. The usage portion of the review is from her perspective. In the box (which due to how well the box and styrofoam inserts are made, doubles as a storage case), you get a Slicer/Shredder attachment, a Slicing Blade (3mm), a Medium Shredding Blade (4mm), a Coarse Shredding Blade (6mm), a 2-in-1 Food Pusher, and instructions. The included manual tells you all that you need to know to get started and to prep/slice your foods. Everything is built to the high standards that KitchenAid is known for (backed by an “okay-ish” one year warranty… and everything included (except the fresh prep slicer/shredder attachment, which must be washed by hand) is dishwasher safe, making cleanup a snap. I should know, as my wife cooks and I clean… only fair. My wife used the 6mm Coarse Shredding Blade attachment with a 7-quart bowl-lift KitchenAid stand mixer to shred white and yellow cheddar cheese blocks for a baked macaroni and cheese… which was deee-licious. She noted the following: The slicer/shredder attachment was super easy to install and remove. After lifting the plug on the stand’s top housing’s motor, insert the blade into the slicer/shredder housing ‘il you hear a click, slide the slicer/shredder attachment into the housing motor, tighten the housing knob. That’s it. It locks solidly in place. To remove, perform the actions in reverse. After removing the slicer/shredder attachment, press the release lever on the slicer/shredder attachment to remove the blade. Simple. As far as results, she said that it did take a little bit to get used to how much cheese she could process at any given time. She initially tried to push too much of the block in, and while the grater chugged along, the issue was that the hollow area inside the grater would get clogged, if she didn’t stop every once in a while and use a spatula to help the grated cheese out of the grater. I asked whether she thought this was a design flaw. She said, no… the approach made sense. You just have to take your time and clear the grater (especially with soft cheese) every once in a while. She noted that when you get to a certain point on the cheese block that the grater can’t seem to process it. So you end up with some remaining cheese chunks, which is no different than a manual grater (and with the included food pusher, you don’t chance skinning your fingers/knuckles in the process). She also said, compared to using an old-school manual grater, this thing was so much faster and easier that she wished we got it a long time ago. We’ve been married 22 years if that’s any indicator. I asked her for her star rating on the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment. She said that it’s a solid four-star in that it delivers exactly as promised. Five stars goes above and beyond. I asked her if she’d recommend the purchase to others. She said, “Definitely. First it’s KitchenAid, so you know it’s good. Second, it makes the entire shredding process, from start to finish, super simple compared to manual graters.” She said she loved the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment set and certainly recommends it to anyone considering it.

Great for slicing!
- May 22, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder comes with three different blades: a slicing blade, a coarse shredding blade, and a fine shredding blade. These blades achieve different textures and thicknesses though as you'll see from my pictures take a bit of practice. I love how easy it is to use these attachments. They pretty much effortlessly attach and detach from the stand mixer. The food hopper is large enough to accommodate sizable portions. The whole thing is also straightforward to clean, as the blades are easily removable and dishwasher safe, making post-cooking cleanup a breeze.Another aspect worth mentioning is the attachment's safety features. It comes with a specially designed food pusher, to help keep hands from getting near the blades. Overall I find this attachment super helpful and a huge time saver in the kitchen during meal preps.

Excellent Slicer / Shredder!
- May 7, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This slicer / shredder works great and it is so easy to use and clean. So far, we’ve used it to slice zucchini and carrots for Thai curry - sliced perfectly in seconds - and shred cheese. We’ve found that using this attachment to shred cheese is less expensive than buying prepackaged shredded cheese and the cheese tastes fresher and better. And again, it literally shreds a large block of cheese in seconds and cleans up super easily!

Perfect attachment for meal prep!
- May 8, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The KitchenAid mixer system is the best when it comes to having useful and easy to use attachments. This holds true with the latest attachment I got, the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment. I have a kiddo that loves carrots. He prefers them being cut up into slices (he calls them carrot chips...lol). Slicing a large number of carrots for the week can take forever when just using an "old fashion" knife and cutting board. With the Fresh Prep Slicer attachment, one can slice an entire bag of carrots in just a couple minutes. Shredding zucchini took no time either. The shreds came out perfect for my stir fry. The build quality is what one would expect from the KitchenAid brand. The slicing and shredder inserts for the Fresh Prep pop out for easy changing and simple cleanup. I highly recommend the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment. It is a definite ten in my book.

Easy to use and a timesaver
- May 3, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This slicing and shredding attachment is so easy to use. Connecting the attachment to the mixer takes less than a minute and the quick connect lever allows you to quickly change between the three blades. The three blades are for slicing, fine shredding and coarse shredding, which should cover most of our needs in the kitchen. The attachment operates when the mixer is at setting 4. The 2-in-1 food pusher allows you to feed food items both big and small. I wasn't prepared for how insanely fast this shreds/slices. Clean-up is a breeze. The three blades are dishwasher safe and the attachment is hand wash only. I wish we had this attachment sooner because it has definitely cut down on prep time.
