Classic Kitchenaid look with great features.
- July 12, 2018[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was chosen to review this Metal Food Grinder attachment from Kitchenaid. It has great presentation and high quality, easy to assemble and also has that Classic Kitchenaid look. I recommend using smaller protions in the meat tray it will grind better and you will have less issues. Once again as always Kitchenaid has a real winner. Two thumbs up Kitchenaid. Keep being creative.

Metal Food Grinder; Must Have for Meat Lovers
- June 23, 2018[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This metal food grinder is of really good quality. We decided to try it out ourselves on some steak to make into burgers; a basic meal! We got a pound of both top sirloin and chuck to see how the machine would handle a fattier meat versus a less fattier one. Luckily, this grinder was able to chop it all up in no problem. The grinder came with many attachments including 3 different mm grinders, 2 sausage stuffers in different sizes, a pushing chute, bottle brush, and sausage stuffer. For this we used the smallest size to get the best ground burger for grilling this summer, and the pushing chute was VERY necessary alongside the bottle brush for efficient cleaning afterwards. When grinding the meat, I would suggest chunking or slicing pieces in thin strips to put down the chute, and to have a splash guard in place since this grinder can occasionally push meat out quickly and some of it got on top of the counter outside our receiving bowl. Once we put a paper towel barrier up, there was no problem! I would say it took maybe 10-15 minutes to fully grind up 2 pounds of steak for grilling burgers, and the cleaning process took about 10 minutes simply to be very thorough in using the bottle brush and also drying the pieces afterward for putting them away in the box. The entire grinder comes apart where the top bowl detaches from the chute, and the chute also has a turning blade the comes out with the mm grinders (this is the section that attaches to the mixer), and it all comes out in pieces. This makes for VERY easy cleaning, and the only issue I would say is the fattier parts got stuck behind the mm grinding bit at the end and were taken out very easily. Overall, I think this is a top notch grinder if you plan on grinding your own burgers. It attaches simply, cleans easily, and is very quick in the grinding process. My only suggestion would be adding a splash guard for safety of getting raw meat in places, and grinding your meat the night before you cook so it's ready the next day! Personally, I have a 3.5 qt KitchenAid Artisan Mini, and I was a bit afraid this product would be too large for the mini, but it fits perfectly like you would imagine an attachment would. You simply remove the plate on the front and slide this in fully assembled, and it spins alongside the mixing unit.

An Excellent Addition to My KitchenAid Mixer!
- November 19, 2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This metal food grinder attachment has been a fantastic addition to my new KitchenAid mixer. I’ve used it twice so far, and it’s exceeded my expectations both times. The first time, I ground 1kg of meat (chuck), and the second time I tackled 3kgs. Both times, the attachment powered through the meat with ease—no jams, no fuss, just smooth grinding. What really stood out to me was how easy it is to clean. I was expecting it to be a bit of a chore, but honestly, clean-up took just a few minutes. It’s well-designed and comes apart easily for washing. If you’re considering making your own mince at home, I couldn’t recommend this attachment enough. It’s simple to use, efficient, and pairs perfectly with the power of the mixer. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

Grinds Meats - Ruins Mixer
- July 8, 2025I got this in this weekend and was very excited to use it. I grounded up about 5 pounds of meat. I followed the directions and watched some reviews. It worked well. When I was done, I removed the attachment and was greeted with meat impacted into attachment point. I cleaned it out. Two days later. My kitchen smelled horrible. I tracked it down to the mixer. I removed the top cover and there was blood in the frame. I had to remove the entire gear assembly. Meat was lodged everywhere. It's rusted now too.

0 out of 5 - garbage attachment
- January 15, 2025If there was a way to give this grinder a 0 out of 5 I would. There is a MASSIVE design flaw with this thing that allows the liquid from ground meat to be pulled into the stand mixer itself, into where the motor is and leak down the stand of the machine. Awful - the only way to clean it is to take the entire thing apart. Absolute garbage. When I tried to contact KA about via chat I was essentially told that they have NEVER heard of this happening and it hasn't happened to them, did I read the user manual? Super helpful considering there are multiple reviews on THIS website about the same issue

Product price and value do not match
- May 13, 2020I didn't notice that this part can't be used in a dishwasher. When I use the wrong packaging color, it turns gray. Usually, stainless steel materials can be used in a dishwasher. I am very disappointed with this material. And its price is very expensive

Great Kitchen Tool
- July 9, 2018The KitchenAid Metal Food Grinder Attachment is my new "go-to" kitchen tool! After 2 weeks of use, I can honestly say it is the B-E-S-T. The attachment itself is a quality product, made from metal and well constructed. Each piece worked well, and there were no problems in quickly putting the parts together. The instructions were quite clear and easy to follow. I started out with the fine grinding plate. I cut up the chicken into smallish cubes. At this size, they were easy to push through the feeder tube without getting stuck. Don't leave the pieces too large, or they can get a bit stuck in the tube. The fine grind is perfect for make meatloaf or patties. The grinding process was extremely fast so be prepared to keep feeding product into the grinder. Very little pressure is needed to move the food through. Next I tried the medium grind. Again, grinding was fast and easy and the end result was nicely ground chicken. Half-way through I changed the grinding plate, and this quite easy. The coarse grind is rough, and also good for a different texture of meatloaf or patties. The key though is smallish pieces to feed into the hopper. I ground up celery sticks, carrot sticks and onions to go with my chicken, as I was making chicken meatloaf. Veggies grind up quickly and well. The grinder pulls the the food through so quickly, and with veggies you get a lot of juice as well. I did a clean up at this point, and what an easy process. The pieces all come apart and clean up quick and easy. The provided brush is a blessing for getting to the grinder tube, and works quite well. It took less than 5 minutes to get all the pieces cleaned and dried, for my next adventure of sausage making. I didn't have any sausage casings on hand, so I tried making skinless sausage, and this was a lot of fun and worked pretty well. Be sure to grind up your protein first though. I used the medium grind plate, and ground up 50% chicken and 50% spinach. I then put on the sausage stuffing attachment and fed the ground meat and veggie mix into the hopper. Using the large sausage tube, I was able to get a lovely line of sausage on a plate under the tube. I am currently looking for a sausage casing provider so I can making proper sausage. Lastly, I did another clean-up of the grinder, and tried grinding peanuts for a batch of rice crispy treats I was going to make. What a great job it does, as you can see by the picture. Much better than the food processor. Overall this is one terrific product that has me really excited. My KitchenAid stand mixer is now so much more than a "mixer", and with the high quality of the metal grinder, it will be a tool in my kitchen for a long time.

So much fun
- March 19, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm am amateur chef, and making/grinding my own sausage has been something I've wanted to do for a couple of years, but I've been busy and also dragging my feet on buying a grinder. Recently, I setup a new kitchen, with a new KitchenAid mixer (the bigger pro one) and decided that I would pull the trigger on getting the grinder. I ordered it and when it came, I was still busy so didn't immediately unbox it, but I have finally did and have used it a couple of times. The box it comes in is very nice, I think I'll be keeping it for a bit, as it has spots for all the attachments. I made some breakfast sausage and recently ground up some Italian sausage that I am going to make dinner with tonight. I haven't done casing sausage yet, but I am looking forward to that, going to make some Texas style German sausage.
