Like every Nest product this thing is overpriced for what it is and takes 2-3 tries to set up, but once its set up it works well. Integration with Google is, of course seamless, and the lock looks good. On looks though, the oiled bronze is a lot more oiled and very little Bronze. It'll be interesting to see how this changes as it wears. 2/2 of these have had trouble locking initially as the bolt hole in the door frame wasn't exactly perfect for the relatively low torque of the lock, but once you ensure there is absolutely no interference between the lock moving parts and the door frame it works well. I've also had two instances of the lock locking 'on it's own'. Probably not what really happened, more likely someone accidentally touched the lock button on closing the door. But it's happened twice. There is a spot to jump start this lock with a 9v from the outside of the batteries die, but I'd expect the app to give me lots of warning. Lock codes can be individually set for people and are 4-8 numbers. I like it.

I have been building my smart home piece by piece. I chose the NEST line when I started with the Thermostat. From there added cameras, door bell, CO2 and now the YALE Dead Bolt, all NEST. The installation was seamless. When I opened the box and exposed all the parts, I noted the Nest Hub was the first to plug in and set up. Instructions were clean, short and to the point. Next was removing the old dead bolt system and installing the new one. 2 key points to note: 1 - When installing the Dead Bolt portion into the door, make sure it is set to the right length (clearly shown in the instructions: 2 - some doors over time shift causing friction when the dead bolt opens or closes. You need to push the door so it closes naturally then try the dead bold into the strike plate. If there is any resistance or rubbing, you may have use a screwdriver to chisel out and move the strike plate every so slightly. I have now helped friends install their YALE locks and can say, it has take maybe 45 minutes start to finish. Like other products from Nest, it is so easy and self explanatory on the ap to add people, check history and set the automation for Away and Home assist. It is a very well built, strong durable product. I have added it into my 'GOOD NIGHT" routine on Google Home to ensure it is locked every night going to bed. I recommend this to anyone looking for an automated Dead Bolt. You get what you pay for.

Notifications started at 9:50 am saying unlocked then locked then unlocked then locked about 20 times a minute ... This continued till around 11:09 I contacted nest. No one is home and my lock has been repeatedly unlocking and locking the door. They respond " are you at home with the lock? " No I'm at work. Again no one is home. Yet my door continues to be unlocked. They respond " sir we cannot help, you have to be physically at the lock to remotely troubleshoot. Thanks I'll be ripping this off my door when I go home. What a horrible product. If you cannot get home when it says the door is being unlocked it is a horrible feeling. Expected better support for such an expensive lock. Something to be wary of and a quick search I am not alone with today's problem.
