It is a battery. Works the same as the one that comes with the original doorbell. Manufacturer should include two batteries as a default in doorbell package b/c if you need the battery b/c you can’t hardwire doorbell then one battery is painfully insufficient. Battery takes 4hrs or so to fully charge so you have to pull out battery and charge. Meantime, if you didn’t buy an extra battery you have no doorbell or security camera for 4+ hrs. “Ease of use” & “value” I gave low ratings b/c of issue of only one battery described above. Manufacturer already knows you need two batteries so why make you pay for something that should be included.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this as extra battery for our Ring Doorbell 2 so we always have a fully charged one ready to go. It's the exact same thing that comes with the doorbell. It includes the micro USB charging cable as well. Wish it were USB C, since that's what's becoming the new standard. It can be a little tricky to press the release in sometimes. The price of these should be a little lower for their value. Everyone else sells it for about $1 less, which you can have price matched either way. However, the price would be more fair at about $20-25. Otherwise, I'd recommend this either a backup or replacement battery for any Ring product.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

We have 2 Ring Spotlight Cams and a Ring doorbell 2. All these devices come with this battery but the spotlight cams hold 2 each. We purchased 3 so we can double up in the spotlight cams and have one extra to cycle out as needed. Each battery comes with a USB cable for charging. We have had our devices for about 5 weeks and we are about to swap out one battery. The other 4 are over 60%. You can see the charge remaining through the device health in the Ring app's dashboard so it is convenient and easy to know when they will need to be changed and recharged. Since we have the extra we won't be down waiting for the charging time. They are very quick to change.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
