I bought this product after purchasing a new Samsung HDTV and discovering the distorted images my old DVD was now producing on my new TV. I did not want to purchase a Blue Ray player as I no longer purchase DVDs. This product was the right solution for me. The picture quality is very good and the sound quality is good to very good - it doesn't seem to have quite the depth my old DVD player did but I can live with it. It's very small and I find it hard to see the symbols on the buttons in my stereo cabinet without added light. If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, this is a very good solution at a very good price.

So Back down to BestBuy , and Saw this DVD unit … It has a HDMI Port , and it has Component Ports too.. The Price was right on this DVD player and very easy to install, and get programmed.. This DVD player is Small , Black in Color, and has a bunch of features…easy to use..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Sony DVD Player back in June and so far, so good. It is lightweight and compact. The remote works well and no issues loading DVDs. The only thing missing is a time window on the front of the player. In order to see elapsed or remaining time you have to display it on the screen.

I bought two of these, one after another hoping the first one was just a dud that failed shortly after the 30 day "tail light" warranty ended. The second unit exibited the same symptoms as the first one. Symptoms are problems reading DVD's even some new ones (all DVD's that had problems tested fine on another DVD player at home). DVD player takes an extremely long time to load, fine tuned to the point of anxiety setting in waiting for the DVD to start playing. Despite frequent cleanings the operation doesn't improve, used two different makers DVD cleaners. Conclude that the design and or quality is inherently poor and prone to faults/failure/frustration. Do not recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this DVD player in a pinch, so I didn't have time to review it, but it has turned out to be a good purchase. I like the fact that it's a simple to use, no frills DVD player. It's not smart with apps, it's not 3D, blah blah blah. It just plays upconverted DVDs, and it leaves the rest for fancier machines. And I really appreciate that it has a HDMI out. Some of the other budget DVD players only had RCA out, and I think that's silly in a digital world. Finally, though I think it's a good player, I felt the price was a bit high for such old technology. For the price, you can nearly get some bluray players. But no other regrets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] About 10 years ago I bought this item, than about a year ago the picture started freezing or jumping. I thought it was caused by the condition of the DVDs I was checking out of the library. Over time it got worse until one day the player would not turn off when I wanted to do that. Then it worked and then it didn’t. SO I finally realized that it was the DVD Player not the DVDs. My solution was to go to the Best Buy website where I discovered that the same model with the HDUP conversion was available. So realizing that ten years was actually a longer life than many electronic items lasted I bought another of the same model. So far so good.
