[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to use with my laptop when extra storage is needed for things I don't need to keep on it, since it has a limited amount of storage. I can't say enough good about it! It's small enough to fit in any laptop bag, or even a pocket. It's perfect if you use more than one machine and need to access files on any of them, any time, with or without internet access. It's also perfect if you just have some stuff you want to transfer over or for storing pictures. If you're using it consistently as an external drive, it's fast enough to meet your needs. For around $50-60, you can't go wrong!

So when I need reliability over the years through several purchases and other failed drives I've learned (pr noticed rather) that Western Digital is the one brand of drive I still have going on years and years of storage and use. They seem to last, and that cannot be a coincidence. I won't buy any other brand. This particular model is great, highly portable and lightweight. Fits nicely in any bag I take to travel or when I'm mobile with work. Built with durability in mind and they last. I have over 6 of these in regular use and only had one fail on me in over a decade.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You can probably find bigger storage for cheaper, but this one works well for storing my games. Don't waste your time setting up the software if you want to store games on the device.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This holds a lot of data - downloaded my entire Google Drive as a backup, which was a lot (I'm an elementary teacher for years, so that's a lot). Nice and small, easy plug and use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this drive for about 5 months. I use this device to perform weekly selective backups of my desktop. So far it has worked great. The drive is fast and has been reliable. I ended up ditching the included Acronis True Image backup software for something more configurable. Ended up going with Imperius Backup. Being only 1TB makes it a little tight regarding space. Since I am doing mirror selective (everything except apps) backups of a 1TB drive it has served its purpose well. If you want to keep multiple full images or incremental backups, you might want to go with something with a higher capacity. I would recommend this drive to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went to install a printer on my husbands gaming computer and realized there was no storage space left. (His games were taking up a lot of space and he couldn’t even update them!). So we decided to solve both our problems and get an external HD. This works great. In the span of an hour he was able to transfer all his games to this external HD, install my printer, Office 365 (which was discounted with purchase) nd has tons of room left! I had previously bought one of the Passports years ago and never did fill it up with documents and pictures. I take a lot of pictures. Will definitely continue buying this brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Exactly one month after purchasing this item, it unexpectedly stopped working. Knowing how sensitive these drives can be, I always try to handle them carefully and avoid any unnecessary impact while running. Unfortunately, I mistakenly placed another drive on top of this one while transferring photos from one of my numerous backups, which ultimately caused it to fail. Despite only paying $55 for it, I truly did get what I paid for.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All our instructors run their classes off of portable hard drives so no matter what computer they might be using, they have access to all their information to run a smooth class. These devices run fast enough for playback of video with no hang up. They are small enough for storing in their computer bags that have little storage space. They are durable (I wouldn't drop it off of a building though). They get a little warm after reading/writing large files, but not where I feels it impedes its ability to still read/write at its optimal speed. I like WD when it comes to there large capacity storage devices.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had heard of 'external hard drive' but did not really pay much attention as it was something I never thought I would need...until I did. I began getting messages on the computer when I tried to save anything , that the 'storage was full'. Not good, as my computer was not that old. With BB help, I was directed to this external hard drive to save everything that was already on the computer and also being able to save and add new files going forward. For $60, it was l lifesaver to me. I had to be shown how to use the external hard drive (plug USB into computer , run, and transfer.) Almost that easy. Had to be shown exactly what things to click on. Not computer literate...
