[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the 4 TB drive today. I plugged it into a windows 10 laptop and saw the drive formatted NTFS. Great. I copied a few large folders to the drive and watched performance. The transfers rates are between 2 MB/s to 60 MB/s, which is 16 to 180 mps, far below the advertised 3 gbs. I performed a quick ntfs format of the drive and started another copy. Same thing. This is way too slow compared to my previous 2 TB WD drive. Not sure what is going on. No instructions. Nothing in the installed software to set anything. I shouldn't need to set anything. I will give WD chat support a try before returning to BB.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good drive and the transfer speed is only slightly better than last years version. Simply put, for 2019, this drive underwhelms in features. You lose a transfer light and it is still the same USB 3.0 interface. They did change the outside to get rid of the finger print magnet of the previous model. I am a WD fan but feel that more could have been done to deliver a new product for this year. Essentially the only real difference is the software is updated, you lose the LED light, and the outside is just a little smaller and does not attract finger prints. You can download the newer software from the WD website.

This is the second WD My Passport I bought a few months ago. The case is more comfortable to grasp (compared with the previous design), and the texture is good-looking. The actual capacity is 3.63 TB, which should be enough for long-term backup of my videos, docs, photos, etc. It is somewhat disappointing to find that I can't decrypt the drive on Android devices. Overall, the product is good and suitable for anyone with a limited budget and a massive data storage need.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had it for a month and haven’t had any issues. This is my 2nd WD portable hard drive. Easy to set up, just plug in and go! I have the older one from years ago but it is pretty full with pictures, so I got another and it works great, quickly, and efficiently. No discs or anything confusing. Make your folders and drag and drop! It is not super light, feels nice!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re like me, you usually run out of storage space on your electronics. WDs My passport is a game changer. Not only was I able to free up space on my computer, but I was able to easily transfer larger files from my computer to a friends. I’ve read others reviews before trying this product myself and I can vouch for the positive ones. I’ll also add that nothing is perfect and there will be issues time to time, but it sounds like the company is more than willing to help out in those situations. My only complaint is the packaging is not the best and could be improved as the box was a little ripped up when I received it through the mail.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] because of BB plus discount and sale price combined ,, i got this for off desktop backup storage ,, as you see i also have the easystore drive too ,, which i got on sale too back when . these ssd not being mechanical ,, i suspect would last longer than all my hdd .. but time will tell .. plus is the hdd going the way of the dino soon .. i take lots of photos and video as a hobby shooter then add trail cams and dashcams and actions cams and phone cam ,, and it is in the gb to TB of files ,, 4Tb is my max to use ,, i canna seem to trust yet any larger drive to put tons and tons of files on one drive..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the WD - My Passport drives a lot. I've used a lot of WD drives over the years and have had a lot of success with them. This current crop is especially useful since they are so easy to use so small, light, and portable. I use them as my main Time Machine backup disks on various machines, and, in fact, just purchased another one today, since I filled up the previous one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the past decade, I've been partial to WD products whenever I needed external storage and/or back-up for my computer, particularly their My Passport external drives, because of their ergonomic design, ease of use, and product reliability. Therefore, when I needed another external hard drive recently, I bought this 4TB drive without hesitation. I've been extremely pleased with the performance of this drive and it is very easy to use as always. As a bonus, the blue top plate with the diagonal groves looks attractive and provides a positive grip when handling the drive. This was on sale at Best Buy when I bought it, making it an even sweeter deal.
