Four incredible award-winning dark comedies for the price of oneâââ‰â¬Âwhat a deal! Called "lethally precise and improbably hilarious" by The Village Voice, 2004's Aaltra was made by Finnish director Gustave de Kervern; full of physical comedy and outr̮̩ humor, it won prizes at the Belgian Academy Awards and the London Film Festival. The film is in French, Dutch, English, and Finnish, with English subtitles. A wickedly funny story of three sisters' coming of age in a wildly dysfunctional family, Canada's Falling Angels is set against the backdrop of the 60s; based on the book by Barbara Gowdy, it stars two-time Oscar nominee Miranda Richardson, and its awards include 2003 Genies for Best Song and Art Direction. From Australia comes He Died With a Felafel in His Hand, a droll glimpse of the shared house experience through the eyes of a would-be writer; directed by Richard Lowenstein, it won the Grand Jury Prize at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival in 2001. And it's God vs. Satan in the 2005 Danish film Adam's Apples, as a neo-Nazi sentenced to community service at a church clashes with its blindly devotional priest; Variety called it "a funny, politically incorrect, and somewhere deep down thoughtful black comedy," and it won 19 international awards. The film is in Danish with English subtitles.
