AIRFIX Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 (1/48)

The Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 kit recreates the two-seat trainer version of Britainâs legendary WWII fighter in crisp 1/48 scale. Combining the timeless design of the Spitfire with the practicality of a dual-cockpit layout, this aircraft played an important role in training the next generation of pilots.

Product Info:

This 1/48 scale plastic model kit from Airfix reproduces the Spitfire Tr.9, a two-seat trainer variant developed after World War II. With its detailed parts, optional configurations, and authentic markings, the kit is ideal for hobbyists and aviation enthusiasts seeking a unique twist on the iconic fighter.

About the Vehicle:

The Supermarine Spitfire is one of the most famous aircraft of all time, celebrated for its role in the Battle of Britain and beyond. The Tr.9 was a conversion of the Mk. IX airframe, adapted with a second cockpit to serve as a trainer for pilots transitioning to Spitfires and other advanced aircraft. Used primarily by the Irish Air Corps and later by private operators, the Tr.9 combined the elegance and performance of the Spitfire with the practicality of dual instruction, making it a rare but memorable part of Spitfire history.

About the Model:

This Airfix kit captures the sleek lines of the Spitfire Tr.9 with finely engraved surface details, a fully detailed cockpit interior, and accurate dual canopy design. It includes optional parts for various build configurations and authentic decals for historically accurate markings. The larger 1/48 scale allows for enhanced detailing while still offering a manageable build size.
