We’ve had this for a couple of years now. It was ok at the time - although ever since we bought it Siri was fairly weak compared to rival voice assistants. If you’re just looking for a speaker this is a fine one - although we frequently have connection issues. Siri frequently is unable to complete requests. Even when requests are completed functionality seems increasingly limited in 2024. Voice recognition that enables completing a lot of requests seems to rarely for work me. Another main reason to buy this is to act as a hub for apple home accessories if you are committed to HomeKit - but honestly HomeKit compatible accessories seem to lack selection and be much more expensive than rivals.

For it's size, it sounds great. Better if you pair it with a second for stereo sound. If you are invested in Apple HomeKit and the Apple ecosystem, and use Siri for things like your daily update, calendar, reminders, shopping list, podcasts and especially Apple music - it works amazing. My wife and I are each able to use it and it's tailored to our individual accounts and our shared shopping list in reminders. We use it to control all our lights, cameras, doorbell, and garage door, as well as using it for multiple/different timers while cooking. Intercom feature is helpful too when we're on different floors in the house. Will most likely end up getting a few of these for various rooms to take advantage of multi-room music playback and smart home control. The white colour complements our home decor nicely. Other music and podcasts apps work with it through airplay, but it's best suited for those all in on Apple. I switched over to this from our google nest products for increased privacy and to better integrate with our iphones, watches and apple tv. It's not perfect, but overall a fantastic experience at a good price compared to the OG homepod that definitely has better sound, but does the same things.

For context, I am deeply invested in the Apple ecosystem. iPhone, iPad, Mac, Original HomePod, Apple Watch etc.. The sound is phenomenal for a speaker this size. Good bass, crisps highs, solid mids, its sounds great. The design is incredible, the whole top is an led touch surface, it will light up when you activate Siri and when your playing music. The problem comes when you use Siri. Because of Apple’s approach to privacy, Siri is much more private compared to Google and Alexa, but with that come a “dumber” assistant. Siri doesn’t know nearly the amount of facts that the other two do. Voice recognition is pretty good, although you need to be sharing an Apple Home with each family member to work. If your in the Apple ecosystem (Apple Music, iCal, iMessage, Reminders) this is great. If you use Spotify or google calendar, I encourage you to have a look at Google offerings. Otherwise, this is a fantastic device.

I feel compelled by the performance of the HomePod mini to review it. The sound quality for something the size of a grapefruit is unreal. Years later I am still blown away how hard it can hit being so small. I have two in stereo which really brings it alive, if you are on the fence about getting two, just buy 2. As for being a smart speaker, Siri although fast, is lacking vs google. If audio is a priority though, can’t go wrong.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my mother. Arrived just in time to give it to her. From all the reviews online, Apple HomePod mini seems to be one of the most recommended for a native Cantonese speaker. Setting up the device to her phone was effortless and hassle-free. Got her using it in no time. She absolutely loves it.

The biggest selling feature for me was transferring audio to the speaker with a tap, using the U1 chip. Unfortunately these chips don’t work very well. I will have to physically hit my HomePod several times with my iPhone 12 before it realizes I’m trying to transfer audio. When it does transfer, if I’m using Apple Music it tells me I’m already listening to it on my phone And that I should upgrade my account.

Crystal clear sound quality, awesome as a stereo pair. Do not expect heavy bass though, not comparable to the original HomePod in that department. I use it for the bedroom listening at medium volumes for comfortable listening. Creates a pretty good sound stage. Much better than wearing headphones all day.

The product arrived than the expected day. When it comes to product tracking, you can track your product whenever you want. Which was a big bonus for me. Next time I can buy back online.

Again, a device that forces you into one music service. Unacceptable in 2021.
