2080ti to VGA = No Go

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 20, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, the specs say one thing, the reality is another. Apple says it will output to 1080p, however. I think instead of converting the signal from digital to analog, they are actually compressing it and sending it back out. I was trying to hook up a 1600p/75hz monitor to my 2080ti at the time and was getting the default 1280x1024@75hz. I tried multiple USB-C to VGA adapters. Ended up having to go DP-VGA - DeLOCK 62967 0.2m DisplayPort VGA (D-Sub) Black Video Cable Adapter I was only able to find it on the Amazon UK store, funny enough it made it to my home in 3 business days from the UK. Friggen nuts.

    Works but expensive

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 26, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There are a lot of negative reviews saying that these USB-C (thunderbolt) adapters don't work. Mine works and I have not had any (major) problems. One of my external hard drives wasn't recognized at first but after I unplugged it and plugged it back in it was fine and it's recognized every time now. My iPhone is instantly recognized and charges/syncs with iTunes without a problem. I have not yet tried the VGA port. I give this 3 stars because it does what it's supposed to do but I knocked off 2 stars because Apple is charging way too much for these adapters.

Works as expected when inserted after booting up

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 18, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The device itself will work fine for projection, power and USB functionality. However, on 4 different 2016 MacBook Pros I have seen the behavior where if this is plugged in on booting up, both the HDMI display and the laptop's screen are black. This is even with all macOS updates and the additional software that installed when using the adapter for the first time. The workaround is to plug the adapter in after the laptop has booted and you are seeing your desktop. Hopefully this is a software/firmware issue and Apple will address this in a future update.

best way to use multiple dvi/vga monitors

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 5, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new apple mac book pro (late 2016) does not have a USB-C to DVI adapter. If your monitors support Displayport, I highly recommend you get a USB-C to Displayport cable from monoprice or amazon. If you have HDMI inputs on your monitor then you might consider going that route as well. If you have older VGA/DVI monitors, your only option is to get the Apple VGA adapter. I'm not normally a fan of VGA but I will say this seems to work great and has no noticeable degradation compared to my monitors I'm connecting to via Displayport. So while I'd prefer to use DVI, Apple hasn't figured out a way to do this for some reason. This VGA adapter is a bit pricey but works as expected and it's nice to have the USB 3 and passthru USB-C port for charging.

Great product - shady retail location

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 8, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had a monitor for several years that still works and looks great. Wanted to use it with a new iMac. This works great; however, when I got it home I realized it was used. The inserts were all wrinkled up and the adapter had fingerprints all over it. Not happy at all with the store I bought it from - they should have sold the item at an "open-box" price, not at full retail. What a shady way to do business! This kind of thing makes want to avoid these stores - it's like everybody wants to get over on somebody one way or another. Ewww!

Only for USB-C MacBooks 13" and under

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 31, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to use with my 2018 15" MacBook pro, as at the time, I didn't have a good idea on what to look for in a third party adapter for VGA. However, what I failed to realize is that the provided USB-A port doesn't provide much power, and that the maximum amount of power that can be sent to the host is 65w, which is only acceptable for low draw Apple devices. To be fair, the adapter did work in a pinch with an Intel NUC, but it is a terrible value that you would only buy if you refused to purchase anything but an Apple adapter
