Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone - Blackout Edition

  • Sturdy base and crisp sound.

from Canada on December 4, 2019

I've used this microphone now for around 6 months. I've kept it in the stand and haven't added it to a boom arm. The base is very sturdy. As a side effect of its weight, however, is that it will pick up bumps and nudges on my desk. On the base of the stand is a thin isolation pad, but it doesn't help much. The sound quality is what you'd expect for this price point. In addition to the sound isolation issue, I am subtracting a star from the score because the support bars and screws that hold the mic in place in the stand seem to have some quality control issues and are slightly out-of-whack. However, you don't adjust the mic very often, and so it isn't that much of an issue.

  • I'm not sure how much better it could be

I've good music ears as a musician and listener of muaic. I bought this mic today. The video review is very conservative or he only knows what he knows. For example, in stereo mode, i recorded while i talked and paced. I also made a snapping sound on right and left sides of the room. As i listened i was amazed to hear not only my voice move L to R but also in the distance. It tempered my distance so when i listened, it sounded like i was over my shoulder speaking. The front only mode is brilliant, i sounded like an FM radio guy!! For $120 on sale, this is fantastic. It's a Logitech company so it makes sense. Their toy division is pretty sharp. There is some sound travel from the stand to the mic, isolation needs improvement but who the f cares, the recording quality is superb. No half stars. I suggest a mic stand or boom. By far, over the top performance period. The price is irrelevant at this moment.

This has passed my expectations for a great mic and for the price it is, it’s definitely worth every penny.

Good streaming mic. Make sure you have good sound suppression around because this mic will pick up some noises.

I purchased this microphone to record voice-overs for a podcast. It has excellent, even broadcast-quality frequency response, low to high. It comes with settings to facilitate omnidirectional, bi-directional, or, as I use it, hung from a boom stand with a pop filter right in front of me. This is truly plug and play; make a few adjustments and you’re good to go.
