What customers are saying

The premium controller offers advanced features like customizable controls, adjustable triggers, and replaceable analog sticks, which enhance performance, especially for competitive gaming. However, it has relatively poor battery life compared to the standard model, and some users report build quality issues like peeling rubber grips. Overall, the controller provides a significant upgrade in functionality, but the high price may be a deterrent for some customers.

    Formidable

    Reviewed by cj - January 28, 2023

My wife bought this for me. It's an ingenious design - very strong. This control is the epitome of durability. It is worth the price. I see why they made the sticks plastics because metal one's tend to put too much pressure on the module itself especially if you keep pressing on it. The only downside at the moment is you cannot use this on a PC unless you are using steam software to play your game. For example, you cannot use it to play Call of Duty games on battle net unless it's on STEAM. I hope sony provides future software updates for PC so you can configure the dual sense edge controller on PC without having the PS5 console.

Premium Product with One Primary Flaw

    Reviewed by Jimbo - March 22, 2024

Bought this controller from Best Buy and have been using it for about a month now. It's y first ever "Pro" controller and I must say, the build quality and customizability are great. I use it mostly to play FPS games and I do find it makes the experience much better than the standard Dualsense. The primary problem is the very short battery life. The regular Dualsense battery life is already poor as is, so having it be even less in this controller definitely thwarts the overall experience, as I have to plug to charge after every 1-3 uses, depending on playtime. Especially for the hefty price of $300+ after tax, I expect much better battery life. Otherwise, it's a great product and very enjoyable to use.

    Edge review

    Reviewed by Gradi K - January 28, 2023

I got the edge controller and it’s really amazing. The Edge controller is an amazing piece of gaming controller that truly enhances the gaming experience on PlayStation 5 With all the advanced features such as customisable controls, swappable back buttons, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and replaceable stick modules, the controller also has a sleek design that makes it comfortable to hold and use for long gaming sessions. The controller itself feels and looks premium. The only downside is the relatively short battery life and the price but still, overall the controller looks amazing and I’m enjoying it so far.

    Short Battery Life

    Reviewed by Clayfff - April 28, 2024

Not sure if I bought a faulty product or not. There's just no battery life. 2 hours max. Also, it doesn't work with every PC game. It also can't connect to a PC through Bluetooth very well. For PS5, it's great. Easy to set up. No third party app. You adjust it just like a regular controller. Incredibly simple. Good build quality. Great accessories. It's a powered up PS5 controller, which is already a win. If you don't care about the battery life, as far as PS5 consoles, this is honestly your best alternative option for controllers. I'd take this over a Scuff or Battle Beaver.

    Back rubber grip peels off

    Reviewed by prime - October 28, 2023

after a few months of usage, the back rubber grip WILL swell causing the pegs to slip out of their holes and bubble/peel away from the controller. that same rubber part will become stained yellow from regular hand sweat and skin now matter how clean your hands are before use. i will be using the 1 year warranty to get a replacement along side a protective cover to hopefully avoid this issue in the future. for the price, this is completely unacceptable

Good controller but could be better

    Reviewed by HasselHaas - March 11, 2023

Overall the edge is a much better controller than the standard DualSense. The handles of the controller are more rounded & narrower overall, the added textures on the triggers and back of controller make it a more comfortable controller than the DualSense. I personally hate the DualSense triggers so having the triggers stops makes the trigger response 1000x better. I really wish Sony made the controller look and feel bit more premium with the addition of nicer plastics/ materials. Two paddles is the minimum for a “pro controller” but 4 would have been a nice to have. THE BATTERY IS SMALLER which will be more punishing if you are utilizing the haptics, adaptive, speakers etc.. BUT this battery CHARGES WAY FASTER & assuming you have some featured turned off you get a better charge to play ratio. Software & configuration for this controller is the best out there.

Was stoked to see Sony was dropping a custom controller just got it delivered yesterday what a huge difference so far so many cool features love that you can replace the joysticks and such if they get stick drift well worth the money as you’ll never have to buy another controller again!

    Not worth it.

    Reviewed by Gagan - June 21, 2025

I had the controller for six months for reference. The controller functions well, but the quality it’s made out of is terrible. I noticed bubbles forming on the rubber grins on the side of the controller and thought nothing of it. Now the rubber grin of the controller is peeling. For a controller you’re spending $300, it’s not worth it. Save your money. If you google this it’s a know issue.

    Great build, poor price

    Reviewed by Squire - February 27, 2023

Compared to the stock DualSense it is slightly heavier, but otherwise feels practically the same in-hand. Battery life is stated to be slightly lower, but I honestly don't notice a difference, it still lasts plenty long. The added function of shortening the max trigger distance for the L2/R2 buttons is quite nice, but isn't of much use for me since I always flip the shoulder button layout for shooters to aim and fire with L1/R1. The back paddle buttons feel good and durable. They are made from metal. I personally like the half domed shape over the lever style. They feel and function far better than Scuf's or any other poorly made 3rd party controller company's back buttons. The ability of being able to swap out the entire analog mechanism seems pretty pointless to me since analog drift is an easy fix just by cleaning the sensors that detect movement. Also with this new modular design I can see more problems occuring in the long run that would be much harder to fix. I do however like the ability the swap out the thumb stick shapes to the classic DualShock 3 style. There are 2 new "fn" function keys to create and change profiles for custom control layouts. I always use my first layout so I never use these buttons, but it might be useful for some. For the advantages this controller offers over the base DualSense, I'd say it's far too overpriced. Really the only thing you're paying for is the additional of having back buttons, which I don't think are even that useful for shooters since I've been doing jump and drop shots at a high level for over a decade with just the face buttons, and don't feel at all that I'm at a disadvantage that use back buttons. But if you're someone that needs the back buttons, this controller is far batter than all the other well known 3rd party options.
