Powerful little camera
- March 20, 2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this camera for a vacation abroad. I have very little experience in photography but I found this to be pretty easy to use, especially once I got used to the menu system. At first I wasn't over the moon about the image quality using auto but once I started to get the hang of settings using P mode, controlling Fstop and shutter speed and letting the camera set the ISO, I was really happy with the images. I know this is an expensive purchase but in all honesty, I felt like it was well worth it. I highly recommend getting another battery and the little stick on grip that Sony sells for this.

Great little camera!
- March 4, 2024This is the third version of the RX100 that I have owned (Mk1, Mk3 and now the Mk7). I love the small size, the focal range up to 200mm equivalent, great image quality from it's 1" sensor and the EVF.

Outstanding performance
- October 7, 2023I was looking for a high quality, ultra compact camera for when I travel, and after exhaustive online research and trying various manufacturers and models in store, I chose the RX 100 VII and I am delighted with my choice. The auto focus is as good or better than any I have experienced on any camera bridge/mirrorless. Virtually every shot comes out pin sharp and perfectly exposed. The quality of the images this camera produces is outstanding. As well as being accurate, the auto focus is super fast and you can turn the camera on point and shoot in under a second! The camera has all the functionality you could need, and whilst navigating some of the functions takes some getting used to, with practice and experience it becomes quite quick and easy to change essential settings as you go along. I have had a passion for photography for over 40 years and have some very good cameras over the years, and I would go as far as saying this is my favourite camera that I have owned! If you’re looking for an ultra compact camera that packs an impressive punch and delivers images worthy of a much larger camera, then look no further!

Sony - Cyber-shot RX100 VII 20.1-Megapixel Digital
- August 13, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a passion for live music performances, and I'm always on the lookout for a reliable camera that can capture the essence of the moment. Luckily, I've stumbled upon a game-changing device that ticks all the boxes. What sets it apart is its versatility - it's allowed in both local theaters and massive stadiums. But that's not all; with 20.1 megapixels and an F-stop of 2.8, it produces stunning, high-quality images that are sure to impress. Another perk is its compact size - measuring just 2.3 inches in height, 4 inches in width, and 1.7 inches in depth, and weighing only 272.1 grams - it's incredibly easy to carry around. Whether you're in the front row or up in the nosebleeds, you can rest assured that you'll capture all the action with stunning clarity and precision with this camera. This camera boasts a touch screen that rotates a full 180 degrees, making it the ideal tool for capturing those perfect selfies. The audio quality is nothing short of exceptional, while its video quality at 4k, 30fps is truly impressive. However, I have noticed that the lens may retract slowly when turning off the camera, which can be somewhat problematic when one is in a rush to store it away. In my personal experience as a fellow enthusiast, I wholeheartedly advocate for this particular camera model as the ultimate all-in-one option that can fulfill all of your photography needs. Ideal travel/pocket camera that packs a punch
- August 19, 2020The vii is a very capable camera whether you are a beginner wanting point and shoot or more advanced control through the various functions on offer. Picture quality is good and has exceptional auto focus capabilities. I’ve previously had SLRs (old school) and super zoom bridge cameras all of which require large carrying cases and for the SLR extra lenses. This camera is compact and fits in the pocket and is capable of macro pictures, wide angle and 8x optical zoom - did I mention it fits in your pocket! The digital zoom pictures are also very acceptable. I originally upgraded from a bridge camera to the rx100 v and was very impressed with the picture quality and versatility of that model. Having the camera for 2 years I always yearned for a better zoom capability. Finally I took the plunge and upgraded to the vii for the 8x optical zoom but had to compromise on the lens speed. This isn’t too much of an issue as the iso range of the camera helps compensate for the slower lens. The auto focus performance and touch screen were both additional benefits in the vii. I’ve had the camera for over a month and torn between the two (v and vii). I’ve taken similar images with the vii and and in certain circumstances the v took better images due to the faster lens; I take a lot of night shots. I’d definitely recommend both, especially if you are upgrading from a smaller image sensor, but bear in mind what you want to takes pictures of. Overall the zoom lens, improved auto focus and touch screen make the vii the all round, versatile compact camera. Note: Attached pictures have been compressed to fit the 5mb limit. Should provide a great view though of the quality.

Compact quality
- April 15, 2020I was given this for my birthday because I take photos for a walking group. Unfortunately because of lock down I have not been out as usual but I am trying to get used to the cameras myriad of features. The build quality is amazing. I did want a small camera “all in one” which it is but the small size takes getting used to after big cameras. Just what I need for climbing styles and muddy fields! Still great quality photos

Best Pocket Camera Available
- January 7, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had, and still have, a number of high end cameras and have been photographing hikes, birds, and horses for well over 30 years. Many of my best photographs have been taken with a Nikon 9000 pocket camera. I replaced it with this camera. Considering that it is a pocket size camera, its capabilities are stunning. I use the pocket camera on horseback rides. Quick focus and one handed operation are essential for my main usage and this camera fills the bill. Composition using the display is aided by the exceptional quality and brightness of the display. I always put the photos I intend to keep through Photoshop for cropping, exposure adjustment, etc. I find that exposure correction using this camera tends to be usually unnecessary. It’s zoom is adequate for my purposes, but it will not replace my Nikon and Sony zoom digital cameras for photographing birds. It will work quite well for the deer families that spend spring and summer in my yard. I have found video from horseback to be much higher quality and more steady than I expected.

What a great little powerhouse of a camera.
- October 17, 2020I came from a Nikon d750 with a range of lenses from 24mm to 200mm. It got old lugging all that gear around. I wanted small but still something I could count on for great high quality images. So, I got me a Sony RX100 M7... I have had this camera now for 9mo. It takes a little getting used to and you need to spend some time with its feature set, which is enormous btw. If you do you will find a very capable camera. I am pleased with IQ and how very fast the camera is. It starts quickly, shoots fast i.e. NO shutter lag, the AF is very fast and spot on. I have spent a good amount of time with its features and how I want it set up. I highly advise people to utilize the memory recall feature and set the camera up for certain shooting situations. I have one for sports, portraits and landscapes. This took a bit of time but was actually enjoyable and well worth it. The camera's lens is fantastic, from 24mm to 200mm the images are sharp and clear. JPG's are the best I have seen from any camera. You don't buy this camera to just use it on auto, although it will give really great results, it's features are just to good to pass up. I urge anyone to spend a Sat. morning going through the manual and really getting to know it's features. The auto ISO is one I use 90% of the time now, something I never did with my DSLR. Overall I love the camera, it's size, it's weight.. it's so much nicer to haul around then 15lbs of DSLR gear.
