After I had this kettle for approximately one year the lid stopped working. I have to put my fingernails in-between the lid and the kettle to open it. This is annoying because every time I have to fill it I have to open it with my nail. Also, mine continues to have bad dark stains on the bottom. I cleaned it with vinegar and baking powder but it doesn't seem to go away.

Beautiful, sleek, elegant kettle. Works perfectly, great addition to my kitchen. Can always rely on Breville for excellent products that last a long time

bought this few years ago it works well heats up very quickly but unfortunately the lid doesn't open and it is inconvenient to fill up water from the small opening where water pours out from . bought from London drugs about 2 years ago

Inside bottom of kettle always “char” stained - have to clean with vinegar weekly. Kettle is very heavy - then add water.

We purchased this a few years ago. Works well however the lid does not open/close anymore.

I have been using this kettle for almost 3 months now. It is pretty neat looking, but the quality is not great. First of all the button to open the lead almost stopped properly working almost immediately, then yesterday when I attempted to clean it with soda and vinegar, the glass just burst for no reason. The kettle was not hot, and I did not use any pressure, I just put some soda and vinegar in, and wanted to start cleaning it, when glass broke for no reason. I am very disappointed in this kettle as it is of a very poor construction and quality. I DO NOT recommend it to anyone.

I bought this Kettle about three years ago. It’s been a great little Kettle. It looks nice. It’s easy to keep clean because you can see all the debris on the bottom. Unfortunately, just this week the lid stopped going up and down automatically after pushing the button. The lid also popped open all by itself, allowing the water to boil all the way almost to dry before I caught it, leaving my entire kitchen full of water vapour. Probably buy another one anyway because I’m used to it.

We bought this kettle in December 2016 and it is still rocking as hard as ever. No problems with lid or shutting off like other reviews. Our daughter lived off ramen and tea for the first 3.5 years of this kettle's life running it 7+ times a day not including the times i used it for tea, instant coffee and ramen myself. We paid a bit more for this kettle 4 years ago but it holds it's value. We love our breville and it is part of our family now.

I suppose we should be grateful that this kettle lasted four years before the irreplaceable lid hinge broke. If replacement parts were available or a quick fix posted to YouTube, I wouldn’t bother with this review. It would be a great product but for its poorly designed hinges and the out-of-pocket replacement expense.

The kettle was in use for about 2 years. At one moment several cracks developed in the plastic where the handle is attached to the lid and the lid started to open by itself during boiling. The kettle would not shut off then and boils to completely dry. I believe it is a fire hazard now.
