    Junk piece

    Reviewed by - February 14, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beware of warranty fine print regarding corrosion. Bought mug for less than 2 months and got corrosion on the bottom of cup and on the charger. I cleaned and dry every time before charging. I don't write review but with expensive item last 2 months only. Contact customer support and corrosion is not covered. Within 2 month it's $130 junk. Reply from Ember Support: Thanks for reaching out and providing these photos. Sorry to see this happened. From the images shared, it does look like there is some corrosion damage on the bottom of the mug. While corrosion is not covered under warranty, here at Ember we want to support our customers as best we can and offer an out of warranty replacement for the mug at an additional fee.

It's true, don't get white and go for the larger s

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - June 18, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this mug but after one month of using it, the bottom of the mug started to have a brown scratched up stain. After reading the reviews, I was so paranoid and never used a coffee stirer in it, I washed it by hand without a sponge or anything abrasive, and "babied" it like a delicate flower. Unfortunately, the stain appeared within a month of using it daily. Also, the cup is fairly small so if you drink lattes in the morning, I'd recommend going for a larger size. Overall, I really like the mug, just wish I picked a different color.

A Smart Mug Made Dumb By Broken Software

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 12, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug officially gets my award for Worst Product I Bought In 2021. First, let's talk design. The power button for the mug is on the bottom. Surely someone in the design process said, "isn't it a bad idea to put the power button of a mug on the BOTTOM?" Here's why that's a problem. My mug will randomly disconnect from the app and power off the mug. The only way to get it to reconnect is to hold the power button down to enter pairing mode. This is pretty tricky to do when it is already full of hot coffee. But okay, power button on the bottom for the sake a clean design. Sure. I get it. Everyone wants to be Apple. Take a look at my screenshots from just this morning. The mug attempted to update itself for the 4th morning in a row since I began using it last week. Sometimes it says the update is completed, but still it tries to update again the next morning. This morning it decided to disconnect while updating. What's really annoying is I have no way of knowing if the mug firmware is up-to-date or not because the app doesn't allow you take a proverbial "look under the hood." There's no deeper settings or device information to look at. It's either connected or it might as well not exist. Each morning it shows the mug in the app, but refuses to connect unless I select the "pair new device" button at the bottom. My experience with this mug, so far, has been an endless loop of bluetooth disconnection, failed updates and even app level errors (see my third image featuring "uncaughtException111," which is a deep level Java virtual machine function in the Android environment.) This is just good old fashioned broken software. Lovely. Folks, consumer electronics that are dependent on smartphone apps can only be as good as their smartphone apps. I'm guessing my mug is having problems because my Samsung Note 20 was just updated to Android 12. I'm also guessing that the folks at Ember haven't had a chance to check compatibility with Android 12 as it was just released in October 2021 and only just now for my specific device on my specific carrier. And that's okay, I get it. I've worked in software. QA testing takes time. There's a lot of phones, running a lot of different operating systems. But why, for the love of all electronics, didn't you just add some redundant controls somewhere on the mug or base? The idea is GREAT. A self-heating mug. Love it. But don't lock controls behind an app that you're responsible for keeping updated with the latest and greatest in smartphones. All you had to do was add a couple buttons to the charging base. A POWER button, a button for TEA and a button for COFFEE. That's it, three small buttons on the charging base that can control if it's on and two preset temperatures. No need to even get a phone involved unless you just really want a specific temp. Seems pretty logical to me, but what do I know? I'm no genius, but I'm pretty sure I'm smarter than this "smart" mug.

    High quality and useful mug

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 28, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a birthday gift for my wife. She isn’t much into tech items, but she loves her morning coffee. She absolutely loves this coffee mug and hasn’t used anything else since getting it. It seems to be high quality and easy to use. We linked it to her phone and she enjoys getting texts from the mug. Attached is a picture of a text she just got saying the coffee is ready. We originally got her the 10oz mug but it didn’t leave enough room for her massive amount of creamer she likes to use so we upgraded to the 14oz one which is perfect. She likes that this mug helps keep the creamer from cooling down the coffee. We highly recommend this mug but it is a little pricey.

    Amazing device with fatal flaw

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 17, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mug itself has been fantastic. A self-heating coffee cup, the future is here! The app and bluetooth connection can be a bit fiddly but when it works its a dream. After having this mug for under a year and a half having exclusively hand washed it, the inside of the mug is flaking off. Just a few months out of warranty and it's unusable in this state unless I would want to inevitably drink whatever material it's coated with. I've reached out to their support team and am waiting to hear back but in any case I would encourage researching the coating flaking issue online if you're considering anything from this line.

    Love it!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 7, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ember Mug is a game-changer for anyone who hates lukewarm coffee or tea. It keeps your drink at your perfect temperature for hours, which is fantastic for slow mornings or long work sessions. The app is easy to use, and the charging coaster is convenient. It's a splurge, but if you value consistently hot beverages, it's worth it.

10 oz Ember Mug - Pretty Good but Bad Battery

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 7, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ember smart mug is pretty good but not great. The 10 oz is not big enough but the 14 oz is too expensive. I would definitely buy the 14 oz version if money is not an issue. It’s too expensive for what you get. That said, I make a cup of coffee in a 15 ounce cup. When the 15 ounce cup starts getting cool, I dump it in the 10 ounce Ember mug. Not very convenient. The battery is really bad. Believe the other reviewers when they say this. You must keep it on the charging station if you do not want this to die. If they can make a 14 oz cup with a long lasting battery at a reasonable price, this could be an awesome mug. I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 3 because the app is awesome. Pairing is easy. It will alert you when your coffee is at the correct temperature and if you can keep it on the charging base, you will not have issues. The app has presets for tea, water, coffee, etc. Overall the mug is pretty good, but consider buying the 14 oz version if the price decreases.

    Great for keeping temperature

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - October 17, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the way I can control the temperature of the liquid in this mug. Best part is that I can place this mug down anywhere and it will keep my beverage at the exact temperature. I am also notified when my beverage reaches the desired temperature.

    It's a luxury item

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - June 13, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received the mug as a gift. Overall it's okay, but expensive for what it is. It's a 10 oz mug to its brim so it only holds about 8 oz of fluid if you want to be able to carry it without spilling content (from the kitchen to your desk). I've had problems with the app and the mug disconnecting and that's a problem when the mug is full of hot fluid (press the bottom button to reconnect). Ideally you need to stir it, or give the mug a swirl as you drink (empty) the mug since the fluid at the bottom gets noticeably hotter the lower you get. There is some guilty pleasure when you finish something, reach for the mug and your drink is still hot.

8 Oz keurig compatibility if you don't like cream

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 3, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far it's amazing but an 8 oz keurig dispensed with cream and sugar does not fit this very well I would go with the bigger size if you like cream in your coffee ! But it has definitely kept it cozy!
