FAQ
Start with the tasks you plan to tackle and the equipment specified in your motorcycle's service manual. A compatible lift or paddock stand can improve access, while suitable hand tools, a torque wrench and good task lighting support routine maintenance. Keep enough clear floor space to position the bike and work around it.
Check the lift's rated capacity against your motorcycle's weight, including fitted accessories. Also compare its minimum height, lifting range, platform dimensions and approved contact points with your bike. Ground clearance, exhaust routing and fairings can affect fit. Follow both manufacturers' instructions for securing the motorcycle and using any safety locks.
A paddock stand raises a wheel using compatible support points, such as swingarm spools or fork supports, to provide access for certain maintenance tasks. A wheel chock cradles a tire to help hold the motorcycle upright without lifting it. Chocks may require anchoring and additional restraints, and they do not replace a suitable lift or stand for wheel removal.
No. Check the stand's width range, load rating and adapter type against your motorcycle. Rear stands may use spools or swingarm supports, while front stands require compatible fork or steering-head contact points. Motorcycles with single-sided swingarms generally need a purpose-built stand. Follow the stand manufacturer's instructions for lifting order and rear support when using a front stand.
Follow your motorcycle manufacturer's storage instructions for battery care, tires, fluids and fuel where applicable. If you plan to use a lift or stand throughout winter, confirm that it is approved for long-term support. Place it on a firm, level surface and use all specified locks and restraints.
