Popular Nintendo DS Games

Q: What are some well-known Nintendo DS games?

New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are well-known Nintendo DS titles. The Professor Layton series is another option for players who enjoy puzzles and mysteries. Availability varies, so browse current listings for the titles and editions offered.

Q: Can I play Nintendo DS games on a Nintendo 3DS or 2DS?

Most Nintendo DS game cards work on Nintendo 3DS and 2DS systems. Exceptions include games that require accessories connected through the original DS or DS Lite Game Boy Advance cartridge slot. Check compatibility and accessory requirements for the specific game before buying.

Q: Do Nintendo 3DS games work on a Nintendo DS?

No. Nintendo 3DS game cards do not work on Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi, or DSi XL systems. Look for Nintendo DS as the game’s platform rather than relying only on the title or series name.

Q: Can I still play Nintendo DS games offline?

Yes. Offline modes on Nintendo DS game cards can still be played on compatible hardware. The official Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for DS games ended in 2014, so features that depended on that service are no longer available. Local wireless multiplayer remains an option in supported games with compatible systems and any required game cards.

Q: What should I check before buying a previously played Nintendo DS game?

Review the listed condition, platform, language, and included items. Some listings may include only the game card, without the original case or manual. For Marketplace purchases, also check the seller’s shipping details and return policy.

Q: Can Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 play Nintendo DS game cards?

No. Nintendo DS game cards are not compatible with Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. A separately released version of a DS title for another platform is a different product, so check the platform on every listing.

Bring more play to your Nintendo DS. Explore puzzle challenges and previously played games, whether you’re revisiting a favourite or adding something different to your collection. Check each listing for game condition, included packaging, and compatibility before you choose.
