FAQ
Common types include centrifugal, masticating and citrus juicers. Centrifugal juicers use a spinning blade and mesh filter, while masticating juicers use an auger to crush and press ingredients. Citrus juicers use a reamer or press for halved citrus fruits.
A juicer separates juice from much of the pulp, collecting them separately. A blender combines ingredients into one mixture that retains the pulp. Juicers are typically used for extracted fruit and vegetable juices, while blenders are commonly used for smoothies, soups and sauces.
Depending on the design, a juicer may collect pulp inside the machine or direct it into a separate container. Some citrus juicers also have adjustable pulp settings that let you choose how much pulp passes into your drink.
Remove the detachable parts and rinse away juice and pulp after use. A cleaning brush can help clear mesh filters and strainers. Wash parts according to the manufacturer's care instructions, as dishwasher compatibility varies. Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth rather than immersing it in water.
Features may include multiple speed settings, a reverse function, a drip-stop spout and cord storage. Some citrus juicers start when fruit is pressed onto the reamer, while other juicers use buttons or dials. Included juice jugs and cleaning brushes also vary by model.
