FAQ
RGB lighting uses red, green and blue LEDs to create a range of colours and effects. Depending on the keyboard, lighting may be controlled across several zones or individually for each key.
Common effects include static colours, colour cycling, waves, breathing patterns and reactive lighting that responds to key presses. Some keyboards also let you assign different colours to individual keys or synchronize lighting with compatible accessories.
RGB keyboards are available with both mechanical and membrane switches. Mechanical models use individual switches with linear, tactile or clicky key feels, while membrane models typically use a rubber dome layer beneath the keys. RGB refers to the lighting, not the switch type.
Some RGB keyboards offer built-in shortcuts for changing colours, brightness and preset effects without software. More detailed customization, such as per-key lighting or app-specific profiles, may require the manufacturer's software. Software compatibility varies by operating system.
Onboard profiles store supported settings directly in the keyboard's memory. Depending on the model, these may include lighting preferences, key assignments and macros. Stored profiles can let you keep selected settings when switching between compatible devices, although some features may still require software.
