Fibre Optic Troubleshooting Tools and Accessories
Build out your fibre testing setup with accessories that fit your equipment. Explore test reference cords and optical tester adapters at Best Buy Canada, and check fibre type, connector style, and tester compatibility before you choose. These accessories work with compatible test instruments; they do not diagnose faults on their own.

FAQ
The right tool depends on what you need to check. A visual fault locator helps trace fibres and reveal some breaks or sharp bends. An optical power meter measures received light levels; paired with a compatible light source and reference cords, it can measure link loss. An optical time-domain reflectometer, or OTDR, helps locate events along a fibre. The collections above focus on accessories for compatible test instruments.
A copper-only RJ45 cable tester cannot measure optical signals. Fibre testing requires equipment with the appropriate optical test functions. An adapter alone will not add fibre testing capability to a copper cable tester.
Match the cord to your tester, the fibre under test, and the required test method. Check single-mode or multimode compatibility, core size, connector type, and connector polish. For multimode loss testing, also check whether your test setup requires encircled-flux-compliant launch conditions. Follow your tester's instructions for setting the reference.
No. A visual fault locator adapter connects a supported connector size or style to a compatible locator. It does not generate test light or measure optical power on its own. Check the product details for supported instruments and whether the locator is sold separately.
Confirm the tester model, connector types, ferrule size, and any fibre-type requirements. Also check connector polish: APC and UPC end faces should not be directly mated. A connector that physically fits is not always suitable for your test setup.
Never look into a fibre end, optical port, or visual fault locator output. Fibre links can carry invisible laser light. Follow the equipment's laser-safety instructions, isolate the link as required, and verify that it is safe before inspection or cleaning. Use purpose-built fibre inspection and cleaning tools, and contact your service provider before working on their equipment.
