FAQ
AC1900 is a Wi-Fi class designation. “AC” refers to the 802.11ac standard, also known as Wi-Fi 5, while “1900” typically represents the combined theoretical maximum connection rates of 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. It is not the internet speed available to a single device.
A dual-band AC1900 router provides Wi-Fi on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. Depending on the model and settings, these bands may appear as separate network names or share one network name.
AC1900 routers commonly include a WAN port for connecting to a modem and LAN ports for wired devices such as computers, televisions and gaming consoles. Some models also have USB ports for supported storage or printer-sharing features. Port counts and supported functions vary by model.
Router mode manages a local network and its connection to the internet. Access point mode adds Wi-Fi to a network managed by another router, typically through an Ethernet connection. Access point mode is available on some AC1900 routers, but support varies by model.
Settings are typically managed through a browser-based interface, and some models also offer a mobile app. Available controls may include changing the Wi-Fi network name, creating a guest network, viewing connected devices and setting Wi-Fi schedules. The options depend on the router’s software.
