Why Geek Squad Academy?

Geek Squad Academy is all about showing youth the wonders and opportunities that technology holds — both for their lives today and for their future careers. This isn't your average workshop! When attending Geek Squad Academy, students become "Junior Agents" and get hands-on experience with some of the newest and coolest technology.

Invite Geek Squad Agents to your community

 Throughout the year, we offer one-hour workshops to youth ages 10-16*. From real-life robots to safe electrical circuits built with Play Doh, we make learning fun for up to 30 youth. All workshops are run by local Best Buy employees at no cost to you. Fill out an application today -- it takes one minute! We'll reach out if your community is chosen.

What is Geek Squad Academy?

Geek Squad Academy partners with local non-profit organizations and schools to teach students about the latest technology in a fun, interactive environment. Our workshops are customized for students aged 10 to 16 (14 to 16 in Quebec).Workshops are hosted by Best Buy employees on topics such as robotics, digital coding, and more. Every workshop shares our passion for discovery and de-mystifying technology to spark an interest in future career possibilities and opportunities.

How does Geek Squad Academy work?
Our stores connect with local non-profit organizations and community partners to host a workshop. Along with providing facilities for the workshop, the host organization is responsible for the recruitment and registration of participants and must be able to provide one staff member to be present in each class to assist with student supervision.

How much does it cost to attend a Geek Squad Academy workshop?

Most Geek Squad Academy workshops are offered to participants free of charge. However, in a few cases, hosting non-profit partners may charge a nominal fee for participation if needed to offset administrative costs.

How do I sign someone up to attend Geek Squad Academy?
Workshops are only open to the current attendees of the school or non-profit organization that is hosting the workshop with their local Best Buy store. If you’re interested in having your child participate in Geek Squad Academy, we recommend speaking to their teacher, principal, or non-profit leader (e.g. Club Coordinator, Girl Guide Leader) and encouraging them to connect with their local Best Buy location to learn more.

Can adults participate in Geek Squad Academy?

Geek Squad Academy does not have programs for adults at this time.

Can I volunteer at Geek Squad Academy?

Volunteer opportunities for Geek Squad Academy are only open to current Best Buy employees.
