Ron Wilson - President, International

Ron Wilson is president of international for Best Buy Co. Inc. In this role, he guides the vision and strategic direction for the company’s operations in Canada and Mexico. Mr. Wilson began his career at Best Buy more than 25 years ago on the front lines of a Future Shop store in Edmonton, Alberta. Since then, he has worked in numerous leadership areas of the company, including merchandising, operations, marketing, and e-commerce. Since March 2013, Mr. Wilson has overseen a strategic plan that has driven the company toward providing a seamless “Total Retail” experience for customers’ connected worlds. His leadership has been instrumental in introducing and implementing an in-store and online experience that builds long-term relationships with customers and provides excellent support and service before, during and after purchase. Mr. Wilson continues to lead the charge through introducing innovative ideas, including the company’s recent growth into expanded product assortment online, reserve and pick-up in store program, and optimizing the company’s delivery and fulfillment systems. Most recently, he led the successful consolidation of Future Shop into the Best Buy brand.

Bryan Kooistra - Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer for Best Buy Canada, Bryan Kooistra oversees finance, accounting, legal, procurement, and real estate for the Canadian business. Prior to moving north, Bryan held a variety of positions with Best Buy in the US and China, supporting multiple areas across a 16-year career. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. In his spare time, Bryan enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children.

Thierry Hay-Sabourin - Senior Vice President eCommerce, Marketplace & Technology

As Senior Vice President of eCommerce and Technology for Best Buy Canada, Thierry Hay-Sabourin oversees the company’s rapid growth in Total Retail, its continued expansion into the online market, and the digital infrastructure needed to support the entire organization. Responsible for the digital strategy and vision for the organization, Thierry has been instrumental in the development of the company’s online approach and emergence as a leader in Canadian ecommerce. Since 2004, Thierry has played an integral role in the management and innovation behind the Best Buy website. He has spearheaded many significant projects including the introduction of the company’s online community forums and blog platforms. Thierry has been instrumental in bringing Best Buy Canada’s Total Retail initiatives to life, such as launching Reserve and Pick Up, eReceipts, Multi-Channel Fulfilment, Delivery Promise, Ship-from-store, and Marketplace. These initiatives contributed to Best Buy Canada being awarded with ‘Best Omni-Channel Retailer Award’ at the Canada Post eCommerce Innovation Awards in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and named winner of the ‘Omni-Channel Award’ at the 2016 and 2017 Retail Council of Canada Excellence in Retailing Awards. Thierry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from HEC Montréal, where he was also a part of the first cohort in Canada to achieve a Graduate Degree in eCommerce.

Mat Povse - Senior Vice President, Best Buy Retail Stores & Operations, Geek Squad Services & Best Buy Business

Mat Povse is the Senior Vice President of Best Buy Retail Stores and Operations, Geek Squad Services, and Best Buy Business at Best Buy Canada. In this role, he is responsible for the employee and customer experience, sales and profits for over 180 retail stores across Canada as well as the development and fulfilment of Geek Squad programs and services. Mat joined Best Buy in March of 2014 as Vice President of Merchandising responsible for Home Theatre, Audio, Wireless, Digital Imaging, Geek Squad, and was instrumental in the development and execution of the Major Appliances expansion plan in Canada. Since then, he has held numerous leadership roles, most recently as Vice President of Geek Squad Services. Mat has a passion for inspiring people and teams, and has a knack for facilitating productive alignment between organizations. Mat’s multi-faceted experiences and work including service centric organizations has proven valuable in areas of convergence where he leads the optimization of current capabilities for future state, develops new and innovative partnerships, and integrates services at retail - all of which have helped to enhance Best Buy’s Total Retail experience and set foundations for future growth. Prior to Best Buy, Mat was Vice President of Sales for LG Electronics and has also held key positions at Compaq, TELUS & XM Satellite Radio. Mat holds a Bachelor of General Studies, Business and Liberal Arts from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Angela Scardillo - Senior Vice President, Marketing and Store Design

As Senior Vice President of Marketing and Store Design for Best Buy Canada, Angela leads a comprehensive range of business areas including Brand and Creative Services, Retail Marketing, Media, Advertising, Video and Print Production, Loyalty and CRM, Consumer Insights, Store Design, and Digital Communications. Since joining the executive leadership team at Best Buy Canada in 2010, Angela has guided the vision and direction of the Best Buy brand across the country. A champion of best-in-class marketing solutions and innovation within the organization, she has spearheaded comprehensive marketing strategies and major initiatives including a critical transformation of the Best Buy brand, and the unveiling of the new, industry-leading experience stores across Canada. Angela’s marketing career has spanned more than 25 years, having worked with a diverse set of clients including those based in retail, food and beverage, energy conservation, lotto and automotive. Her portfolio also includes DDB Canada where she was Managing Director for DDB Kid Think and VP/Director of Client Services. With an energetic spirit which infuses all aspects of her work, Angela is known for her people-first leadership style and ability to inspire teams to do their best work. She has published a number of articles on marketing and advertising, produced proprietary retail premiums and launched four youth publications.

Chris Taylor - Chief Human Resources Officer

Chris Taylor is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Best Buy Canada. In this role, he oversees the wellbeing of more than 12,000 employees across the country, leading the HR teams supporting all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores, distribution centres, and the corporate headquarters in Burnaby, B.C. Chris joined the company in 2004 as a Human Resources Manager and has served in a breadth of human resources, talent development and employee relations leadership roles since, most recently as Vice President, Human Resources. A natural innovator and champion of corporate culture and change management, Chris has led the company through key growth and rewards initiatives over the years that have advanced Best Buy Canada to becoming one of the top employers in Canada. Prior to joining Best Buy, Chris held leadership roles with The Home Depot and Office Depot. Chris holds a CPHR designation, along with an MBA from the University of Fredericton.

Jason Abrams - Senior Vice President, Merchandising

As Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Best Buy Canada, Jason Abrams is the driving force behind Best Buy’s customer-focused merchandising strategy, overseeing the company’s product categories across all stores coast-to-coast and online. Since 2008, Jason has served in numerous merchandising leadership roles for the company. Always placing the customer in mind first and foremost, he has spearheaded the development of growth plans and merchandising strategies that have ultimately provided a superior customer and employee experience. An intuitive leader with a passion for building robust, lasting relationships, Jason’s hands-on, collaborative approach has fostered strong vendor partnerships through which he has introduced many exclusive programs and firsts into the Canadian market. Jason holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics – Exercise Science from the University of British Columbia.

Polly Tracey - Vice President, Communications

As Vice President of Communications, Polly Tracey leads the company’s public relations, internal communications, community investment, corporate communications and public affairs functions. With experience across North America, Europe and Asia, Polly has previously been a spokesperson, led teams and consulted for global brands including American Airlines, Sony Music and Honda. She was named Communicator of the Year by the Public Relations and Communications Association - Europe’s largest and most influential communications’ body - in 2014. A strong believer in positivity breeding productivity, Polly’s known for driving creativity and innovation to help brands stand out and to enhance employee and community sentiment. Embracing challenges and building effective strategy lies at the core of her leadership style. Polly holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Literature and International Politics from Newcastle University, UK.
