Best Buy Products Return Policy

Eligible purchases can be returned and exchanged for 14 to 30 days* from the date of purchase. This can either happen at any store that’s open for pickup, or by mail. You’ll find everything you need to know about your return options and product-specific return policies on this page.

You can easily return or exchange your item at an open store.

If you made an in-store, Reserve and Pick Up, or an online purchase—you can complete a return or exchange at any Best Buy store that’s currently open. You can check the status of your local store by using our store locator.

We’re taking every precaution, including safely accepting the product from you and cleaning it before it goes back on our shelf. We’re also offering contactless debit card and credit card refunds. If you paid with cash, your refund can be in the form of a gift card, or we can process it as a refund to your debit card.

Here’s how to return an item to a store:

  • Check your printed receipt or e-receipt. Make sure your purchase is eligible to be returned by checking the date and taking a look at our product-specific return policies below*.
  • Bring your receipt and item to any store that’s currently open. You can check the status of your local store by using our store locator.
  • If your local store is closed, there’s no rush—you can hold on to your item until the store is open and able to process your return. If you need a return to happen sooner, you can contact us (but please be aware that our contact centre is handling a high volume of chats, calls, and emails, so it might take a little longer to get in touch).

You can return your online purchase by mail.

Online purchases include Best Buy products ordered on BestBuy.ca for home delivery or contactless curbside pickup.

Here’s how to return an item purchased online:

  1. Simply find your order and select “Start a Return” to get started.
  2. If your order is eligible to be returned*, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to send it back to us.
  3. Once we receive the product, we’ll process the refund to your original method of payment in 7 to 10 days.

We can pick up large items for return if we are able to enter your home safely.

For the safety of our customers and delivery partners, large items—including major appliances, large TVs and exercise equipment—can only be picked up for return if our agent is able to safely enter your home.

If you would like to return an item, you’ll have to answer a few simple screening questions when our agent arrives at your residence. If your answers meet our safety standards, our agent will proceed with your return. If your answers do not meet our safety standards, we ask that you keep the original item at home until it is safe for an agent to collect it.

Additionally, any returns or exchanges will only be accepted if the item has been cleaned and sanitized by you.
